Update on WWE trademark, Questions on Swagger, Ricky Ortiz, Show turning heel, and Brodus Clay, Regal update, Impact Wrestling preview/rating for last week's, change of plans with FCW talent working main roster, Iron profiled again, WWE releases HBK eBook, Punk talks Raw, HBK answers fan questions, new JR blog, Punk almost refused entry at MSG, pre-Smackdown dark match, Smackdown rating, Morgan's father passes from cancer, and the FCW Champion works Raw at MSG

To follow up on a recent story, WWE didn't file to trademark "WrestleFest" in order to use it for a theoretical upcoming video game. Instead, they're looking to prevent an outside party from using that name. A cease-and-desist notice was put out in accordance with this.

As for my look at PWInsider.com's Tuesday questions:
1. I agree that Swagger has a HUGE upside as an in-ring competitor. At 29, his best days are hopefully ahead of him. I don't remember the last time he got to pull it out, but his finisher is Williams' Doctor Bomb. If he continues to grow as a competitor (which requires him to continue to get ring and promo time), we could be seeing some really great performances. They've hinted at a face turn lately, so maybe he'll break from the pack and get to do that kind of thing.

2. I haven't heard anything on him in quite some time, outside of being a part of the Urban Wrestling Federation. I'd be interested in seeing how far he's come since his WWE stint. Unfortunately there are only so many spots in either company, and second chances can be rare.

3 was just answered the other day, so I'll move to 4 after the break: Is Big Show going to turn heel?

4. It certainly looks like we could be going down that path. That honestly sounds like a good idea at this point. It would be great to play him up against a face Daniel Bryan in the age-old David vs. Goliath vein. I think they should seriously consider that if Henry's going to be out a while and/or the Shaq match looks like it could be in the realm of possibility.

5. They're still teasing him returning! I think it's been mentioned pretty much every week now, but I can understand not paying attention to John Laurinaitis segments and missing that. That sucks if that's the reason he hasn't been back yet. I honestly don't think THAT many people were spoiled, and so what if they were? The fact that they'd change the plan because of the relatively small number of people who found out is concerning, though I see the thought process. I think the way it went down did a lot to benefit Miz, and hopefully Clay has been improving his game in the meantime.

William Regal tweeted about his status as an in-ring competitor. Smart man. I wish more shared his philosophy.

Here's the preview for the next episode of Impact Wrestling. Kind of weird that Hogan's in it given how long it's been since we've seen him. Not a bad little video.

The 12/22 edition of Impact Wrestling did a 1.03 rating. Ouch. Hopefully that's just a holiday thing, though there were some pretty bad spots on that show. It'd be unfair for me to not also bring up the theory that it takes time to grow an audience with the fairly newer characters and stories they're pushing.

Seth Rollins will be working the Smackdown house shows this week instead of Raw's. Whichever means I get to see him quicker works for me. With the "loose" brand extension, he could end up appearing just about anywhere if/when he gets called up.

Update: Skip Sheffield defeated Seth Rollins in the dark match for the Smackdown taping. Skip was face, Rollins was heel. Looks like we could be seeing the former Nexus member sooner rather than later based on that.

The inspirational Gregory Iron was profiled in Cleveland.

WWE has released an eBook on Shawn Michaels, chronicling the weekend he went into the Hall of Fame. Sounds good.

C.M. Punk talked to WWE.com after Raw. Good philosophy.

Shawn Michaels answered a number of fan questions on Twitter. Slow news day I'm taking? Nothing earth-shattering.

Jim Ross also addressed a number of wrestling topics on his blog.

A security guard at Madison Square Garden was apparently unaware that the WWE Champion was an actual wrestler, and tried to keep him out of the building. Great going, doofus.

Smackdown did a 1.97 on Friday night. Not bad at all for Christmas weekend.

The father of TNA Tag Team Champion Matt Morgan has passed away from brain cancer. Thoughts to him for what can't be an easy time in his life.

Finally, FCW Champion Leo Kruger faced off with Alex Riley at Raw's house show in MSG. Someone I haven't seen/heard much about, so I'm curious to see what the big deal is with him.

That's all for Tuesday's news. More to come tomorrow. Thanks for reading!
