Impact Wrestling Reax - 5/9/13

Read on for my thoughts on last night's Impact Wrestling.
Pretty awesome opening segment. Everyone played their roles really well. I'm sure there are people out there complaining about Styles doing what Sting did in '97, because someone's always got to be complaining about something and trying to show off how smart they are by pointing things out.

AJ Styles is pretty intriguing without even saying much. I wish some other top guys would take this approach. Cena talks for 15 minutes every week it feels like. There's no intrigue about his character. We know exactly what he's thinking all the time.

That was a WWE-level amount of time given to the Knockouts. Wow. I wonder what Mickie thinks about her lack of TV time?

Interesting post-match. I actually had to look up who the #1 Contender was since they're not doing anything over the Title right now. I guess Velvet's injury means a change in plans.

I thought D'Lo had to leave Aces and Eights after losing to Angle? Maybe he's after a second chance.

Fine Bad Influence/Storm segment. Kazarian and Daniels are doing pretty well as heels.

Nice Aces promo. TNA makes it look easy to tell a coherent story.

Anyone else expecting some kind of swerve with D'Lo turning on Aces and Eights? Fine match, both from an in-ring standpoint and for continuing the story.

Good post-match. Aces and Eights is pretty intriguing right now.

YOU'VE GOTTA LET THE HULKSTER GET BACK IN THE RING, JACK. THE FANS ARE BEGGING FOR IT, BROTHER. Other than that being a possibility, that segment was good.

Nice stuff with Aries, Roode, and Storm. I like that matches generally get some build-up and aren't just thrown out there.

That was a little strange. The action was good (if a little heavy on the big moves in rapid succession) at any rate.

Aces and Eights are just straight-up evil and uncaring. It's refreshing to have heels who are actually heels.

Really nice segment between Sabin and King. I look forward to them facing off, even though it will probably be a meaningless spotfest.

Fine backstage stuff with the TNA Originals.

The BFG series is coming up already? Where have these past couple of months gone!? But yeah, it'll be interesting to see who gets a spot. I'm guessing York.

I'm really liking the Aces and Eights gimmick for whatever reason. Maybe because WWE hasn't done anything like it in quite some time.

I can't be the only one cracking up at Hogan asking someone if they're "ready" (after the Bobby Roode fiasco). But they've done a good job building up the main event.

That was pretty awesome. Wow. TNA knows how to tell good stories. Abyss looks pretty strong right now. I hope they don't try to make him over in Hogan's image again or make him goofy.

More wrestling coming up.
