Kickoff TV audience, WWE nominated for Webbys, musical act on Monday's Raw, Stephanie Q&A, more on Network subscriber numbers, top matches set for ROH in San Antonio, Nikki update, more on Shaq vs. Show, EVOLVE shifting its focus, more EVOLVE shows coming, Stokely-EVOLVE update, Impact and Total Divas audiences, and Questions on the Andre battle royal, WWE not booking surprises, the WM32 main event, Shane's punches, and Reigns appealing to kids

The second half of Wrestlemania Kickoff, airing on USA Network, drew 1.32 million viewers. That's not bad. Hopefully it led to more people watching WM32.

WWE Network is nominated for Webby Awards for Best Online Film and Video Sports Channel and Network, as well as Best Streaming App. WWE as a whole was named an honoree for Overall Social Presence, and Xavier Woods' "Up Up Down Down" channel is an honoree in the gaming category. That's all good news for WWE!

Pop rock band Hundred Handed will be part of next week's Raw. The lead vocalist is Dr. Phil's son. I can't say I ever saw a Dr. Phil/WWE connection happening, but it could be pretty fun.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

Stephanie McMahon did a fan Q&A on Quora before WM32:

- I don't see her doing a Q&A on Reddit. Yikes.

- A lot of times fans are reacting passionately to PPVs, just not in the way WWE wants. Most of the detractors weren't going to watch anyway and are just complaining online while reading results.

- It's good Stephanie's daughters aren't just assumed to be future WWE executives. They should have to earn that like people without that last name.

The New York Post looked at WWE Network's growing pains involving keeping paying subscribers in the U.S. It's not like the Network isn't a great deal. It's worth more than they charge for it with all the PPVs. Things like Roadblock, NXT, and the original shows are bonuses. That's not even counting all the archived content.

ROH's April 23 return to San Antonio will feature a 6-man mayhem match for the ROH World Championship. Jay Lethal defends against ACH, Moose, Roderick Strong, Jay Briscoe, and Kyle O'Reilly. This is the epitome of ROH's "it's all about wrestlers doing moves" booking.

- Also on that show will be a street fight between Adam Page and BJ Whitmer. That should be pretty fun.

The Bellas addressed the reports of Nikki not returning to the ring. Time will tell on that front as she continues to meet with doctors in the months to come.

NXT's UK/Ireland tour is advertising Shinsuke Nakamura, Bayley, Finn Balor, and Baron Corbin. Asuka and Apollo Crews are also on the poster for the tour. With Corbin and Crews "called up" on Raw, it will be interesting to see if they still work those events. I hope they do, even if it's their farewell for the brand.

Shaquille O'Neal wants to wrestle Big Show at Wrestlemania 33. I would be fine with that as an "attraction" match. That's probably the best use for Show at this point in his career. It's not like wrestling fans are going to get excited to see him in a title match or main event.

EVOLVE is shifting its focus toward talents who have potential to head to WWE developmental. While they will still use other talents in shorter programs or as guests, the main goal is to have talents who could be hired by WWE. While obviously that's good for WWE, I hope it doesn't mean talented performers won't be used because they're not potentially on WWE's radar (see: Drew Galloway).

- EVOLVE is also looking to run more live events and hit new markets, potentially having a show as often as every four weeks. That's hopefully the right move for them to get people more work.

Stokely Hathaway is now working in EVOLVE as a regular. I assume he'll also keep working in ROH.

Impact Wrestling's audience this week was 272,000 for its first airing, with 66,000 for the replay. The overall audience was down 50,000 from the previous week. This show featured a World Title match and a steel cage match, advertised a week in advance.

- I have a number of theories as to why TNA's audience can't crack 500,000 anymore:
-- Wrestling fans already "get their fill" from three hours of Raw, two hours of Smackdown, and potentially an hour each of LU, ROH, NXT, Main Event, and Superstars in a week.

-- ROH, LU, and NXT already provide something of an "alternative" to WWE, so there's less "need" for TNA.

-- Top stars leaving, fans being "burned" from previous creative regimes, and other senses of TNA spiraling out of relevance/existence.

-- Shows being taped weeks in advance, so there's no sense of surprises for most episodes.

- There's only so much TNA can do about any of those factors at this point. Unless they do get a big influx of cash, I think they're going to remain about where they are. It's a shame. The shows are generally quite good.

Total Divas this week drew 649,000, up from the previous week. It's pretty much expected the show will return with a focus on Brie Bella's retirement.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. Because it can be a fun match, as it was this year. They used to have a random dark battle royal before the pre-show; at least now it means something. Plus, it meant we didn't see Kane and Big Show in more important matches with longer performances.

2. Things don't have to be shocking to be good. I'd rather WWE actually treat its performers as important enough to tune in for the next week or show. I actually wish they'd announce at least one segment for the next week's show in order to build anticipation for it.

3. It probably could have headlined from an action standpoint, but those other matches had more on the line.

4. Thankfully he has more to his offense than punches.

5. Yeah, someone read too much into his comments. He was addressing why he's not going to change his performances for people outside the target audience.

More wrestling tomorrow.
