All Out Reax

Read on for my thoughts on last night's AEW PPV.
-- Buy In:
- Casino Battle Royale:
-- Wave One:
The big drawback to this match is trying to get over so many competitors at once. This is three talents' AEW debut and we're more or less glossing over that because there's so much else to get to.

OK, I actually liked that Librarian spot.

Maybe that's the extent of those characters. Glad AEW dialed things back.

-- Wave Two:
Oh yeah Rose is getting a push.

Yeah this one's all Rose.

-- Wave Three:
I'm surprised we haven't seen any joshis. I was under the impression that was in the works.

I loved Baker going right after Bea, showing the previous attack had consequences.

I mostly like the Kong/Brandi pairing.

I hope that's not the last we see of Tennille and Ivelisse. They should be important.

-- Wave Four:
Ewwwwwww ODB.

Hmmmm, I guess they're saving Kong vs. Rose for later.

Yeah sad to see such prominent names here just to be here.

-- Joker:
YEAAAHHHHHHHHH definitely a good pickup. She should be signed.

Fun run from Mercedes.

It's heating up now.

Looks like we're in for a Baker-Bea feud. Perfectly fine by me.

I mostly liked this, but I'm not a big fan of Rose getting such a big push out of the gate. I mean, yeah, make new stars and all, but there were better choices here.

- Party vs. Evans/Angelico:
Some crazy athleticism in this one. I feel that will be a theme on this show.

There's a good flow in this one.

Lots of impressive moving around here.

I think AEW's foundation is going to be flashy tag teams. That's something a lot of people like, but I worry it will crowd out other good ideas.

Wow. This is crazy.

I see the hype for PP.

- Post-match:
I have a feeling we're going to end up with the issue of no one "really" being a heel because everything's just about flying around. But, again, that's what a lot of people want from AEW.

- Wardlow video:
Well that was interesting. Amazing how many talents are wanting to be part of AEW.

-- All Out:
- SCU promo:
I'm very glad neither the pre-show nor main show featured a rah rah WWE sucks promo. No inside jokes or long comedy segments. Those were chief complaints I had about previous shows.

- SCU vs. Express:
Interesting team name.

And it's another flashy tag match.

I'm going to be burned out on spots by the end of this card.

And it's the everyone does a dive spot. For whatever it's worth, they've captured the spirit people liked when ROH excelled with this kind of thing.

OK I was impressed with that finisher.

- Omega vs. Pac:
Another big moves match.

I'm impressed with what they can do and how well they can do it.

OOUUUCCCCHHHHHHH that moonsault to the barricade. That could have ended REALLY badly.

I liked Pac avoiding the V Trigger.

This is improving now that it's not as much about spectacles.

Damn, how many finishers are we going to see here?

Whoaaaaaaaaaa didn't see that ending coming. I liked it. It shows being the more flashy wrestler isn't everything.

- Cracker Barrel Clash:
Oh my God this is already crazy.

Vince McMahon wouldn't like this at all.

Wild stuff.

Hahahahahaha the tennis racket.

Jesus he had the tacks in his mouth that whole time?

I popped for the Monkey Flip. Janela's growing on me.

Silly mayhem. A nice break from the tag matches.

Oh my God how do they even come up with some of this stuff?

Crazy crazy stuff.

- Friends vs. Order:
How many apron bumps and flashy doubleteams does one show need?

This is all blending together.

Damn. The Creepers being sacrificed.

Solid work.

- Post-match:
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

Well that woke me up!!!

- Hikaru vs. Riho:
This is a nice change from the rest of the card.

Shida has a mean streak. I like it.

This is NICE.

Pretty solid.

- Cody entrance:
Wow. That's bad. Not destroying the throne bad, but definitely not a good entrance for a match with someone who tried to end his career.

- Cody vs. Spears:
YESSSSSSSSS finally a straight-up fight on this show.

Great old school work with Tully. His spots mean more than most of the goofy tag team stuff on this show because they stand out.

This is the first thing on the show to feel heated. Hikaru vs. Riho didn't have the chance to get there and didn't have a built-in story, and everything else has been spectacle.

Classic ref spot.

YESSSSSSSS I loved the belt.

Cody, Tully, and Spears made a belt more important than a table bump from a ladder.

I really like how much of a fight this feels like.

OH MY GOOOOOOODDDDDDDDDDDD DOUBLE A

Phenomenal. They killed it.

- Bros vs. Bucks:
LOL you already know what this is going to be like.

This has been laid out well to get from fun spot to fun spot.

They're 100% working hard.

This is pretty wild.

Wowwwww. They make the most insane stuff look effortless.

OWWWWWWWW that destroyer.

Kind of weird to use submissions in this kind of match.

OH MY GOD NICK TRIPPED THAT WAS SCARY.

Well there you go!

- Post-match:
Odd choice of masks.

I'm glad these two are getting to work on a bigger stage. They're talented enough to fit into the seemingly endless double-team spotfest division.

- AEW's next PPV:
Oooooooooh a month before Final Battle in the same market. I can't help but think that's not a coincidence.

- Jericho vs. Page:
Good pace to start after that crazy ladder match.

Definitely a tale of two different wrestlers here.

I like Jericho's psychology.

Damn, Page really showing off that twenty year age difference.

I loved that Lionsault counter.

Page kind of looks like the heel beating up the bloody legend.

I like the counters in this one.

Yeah Page is doing a lot of moving around for Jericho.

Wow. Jericho took the best Page had and beat him. I wonder if that's the right move given everything else AEW has done as far as focusing on younger names.

More wrestling coming up.
