Does HBK wrestle in 2011?, HHH/Taker updates, the Wellness Policy, another ECW PPV?, Del Rio and Barrett, TNA in the UK, WWE lawsuit update, why WWE Universe was shut down, Cena update

We start today's news with PWInsider's questions, and these first two are big.

Do you think that Shawn Michaels will wrestle in 2011?
I really doubt it.

When do Triple H and The Undertaker return?

They expect them both back soon barring injury to start building to WrestleMania. I haven't read an update on either in quite some time. Triple H wrestled a brief match back in November, so I'd think he's close to being ready to return.

Do you think that WWE's top talents are truly passing drug tests?
Given that they suspended Jeff Hardy, William Regal, and Mr. Kennedy when they seemingly had plans for them because of failed drug tests, I'd say that they are.

Do you think TNA will do another "ECW" PPV this year?
I really hope not. They called the last one "The Last Stand" and a lot of it was Tommy Dreamer's idea. He doesn't want to do another one, so I don't see it happening. I think ECW as a promotion should be allowed to rest in peace now. It's been nearly 10 years after all.

Now we're at actual news stories. Alberto Del Rio worked a Raw house show, and Wade Barrett was listed as a Raw star on a Smackdown show. Interesting. I guess it's a case of WWE continuing to want to get Del Rio over on Raw to look like an even bigger star. I don't think they'll move him until after the draft. But I could be wrong. Wade Barrett's set to be a part of Smackdown, but WWE.com still has him listed as a Raw superstar. I guess they'll do an angle or something where he's officially signed to Smackdown. I'm surprised that they're (apparently) not going to have him feud with Nexus, but it makes sense that they'd want to keep him as a dastardly heel. If heels are facing heels (like in the Nexus civil war idea I proposed and others mentioned long before me), who is the audience supposed to pull for?

I don't think we've mentioned this, but TNA is no longer on TV in the UK for now. I think they're going to be moved to a new channel soon, but it's never good to be pulled from TV without being able to plan ahead on what channel you're going to next or letting the viewers know you'll be online only BEFORE it gets pulled. Apparently up until this, fans in the UK got PPVs for free. WWE did this for a while too. I don't see why they thought that was a good idea, unless they couldn't come to terms with a PPV provider there until recently. It's not really a "pay-per-view" if it's free, and they're an important part of the business model for wrestling companies.

More news on the fan suing WWE story. The fan's name is Ronnie Basham. His family says that his injury has gotten worse as he's grown older, and couldn't keep up with other kids in baseball and football. His attorney says that there is no proof that Basham's racing being related to his current condition. He says that it was right to file a lawsuit to receive compensation "for the pain and taking away a kid's childhood". A kid who played baseball and football and raced stock cars. I wouldn't count that as a childhood being taken away.

If he can prove that his injuries were caused as a result of WWE, and that WWE has liability here, then he should be compensated. But if there was something that said that he (or his mom) assumed all liabality by (his mom) purchasing a ticket, then there's no case here. I have a ticket from a house show in 2005 that says that I assume all risks, so it's possible that it applied there. Accidents unfortunately happen. I still want to know why his mother didn't sue on his behalf sometime before now if his injuries are so severe that they haven't gone away 11 years later. WWE doesn't comment on pending litigation, so no word from them on this yet.

More on why WWEUniverse.com is no more: A lot of it had to do with them having many more hits on their Facebook page, and also because it was expensive to run the site and there weren't enough people to monitor/moderate all of the site's comments. I can only imagine what kind of stuff got posted on there...

Another update on John Cena: He's listed as a part of the post-show main event of 1/17's Raw, teaming with Orton against Miz and C.M. Punk. Still no word on when whether he'll be out, and if so for how long.

That's the last news story for the day. Tomorrow will have more news, and thoughts on TNA Genesis.
