WWE Roster cuts coming?, Former ECW star returns to WWE, HHH, Jim Duggan, and Ricky Steamboat interviews; Sunny in the Hall of Fame?, TNA's new UK deal, JR's scouting plans for 2011, more WWE stock news, Martha Hart lawsuit update, Ric Flair vs. TNA management, Raw rating, Smackdown dark match, more on Lesnar-WWE rumors

The first news story of today is from an interview with former WWE referee Jimmy Korderas, in which he shares his theory that the 40-man Royal Rumble means that roster cuts will be coming soon for WWE. It wouldn't surprise me, but I'm not excited about the possibility.

Former ECW wrestler Little Guido, known as Nunzio in WWE, refereed the dark match before Raw last night in Michigan. He could very well be hired in that role soon.

Next up, interesting words from Triple H.

Triple H says that he has almost nothing to do with WWE Creative right now, as he is mostly in the WWE office learning other aspects of the business. He's not in writers' meetings but does attend the TV tapings. He says that he's more of a "special attraction" wrestler than a full time guy now. It's weird to think of him in that way after his history of being a big-time player in WWE with a lot of pull backstage. I'm not anti-HHH by any stretch. I really like the guy, but I don't want to see him take over Raw and nullify some or all of the work WWE's done at getting some stars to the "next level". So as long as he isn't treated as as invincible as he has been in the past, I think he can be a valuable addition to the 2011 Raw roster.

Next there's an interview with the winner of the original Royal Rumble, "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan. He mentions that he'll be in Boston on Sunday where this year's Rumble is, and he'll have his gear. I would definitely not mind if he got a cameo in it this year, as the crowd always pops big for him.

There are apparently rumors that former WWE Diva Sunny will be inducted into this year's class of the WWE Hall of Fame. She has NOT been contacted to appear for WWE anytime near then, so as of now the rumor is false.

TNA will now have all of its programming showing in the UK again on a channel called Challenge TV. That will put them in more homes there than WWE is in. More people being able to see your shows is always a good thing.

Jim Ross states on his blog that he'll be scouting former college football players as potential WWE wrestlers. This is how Jack Swagger was found. The ends justify the means, so if scouting ex-football players is the way to go, then I'm all for it.

WWE's stock continues to be frequently traded following its less than satisfying financial news. This is the most trading it has seen since 2008.

Attorneys for Martha Hart, the McMahon family, and WWE have requested that certain items in their ongoing lawsuit remain confidential. Hart's side was supposed to respond to some recent motions on 1/15, but there hasn't been any word on whether that's happened yet.

Ric Flair is said to have had some sort of confrontation with TNA management recently and missed today's house show in Germany. He was said to have thrown a tantrum, possibly over a financial issue. Apparently there have been other outbursts by him in TNA the past year as well. More on this story as it comes.

Update: Flair reportedly demanded money "in advance" from TNA but didn't get it. So he refused to get on the bus that took the TNA employees to the airport to go to the next show. Management decided to leave him in Ireland. His partying on the road could also have played a role in him not wanting to get on the bus. He was NOT sent home and could still make some of the later shows on the house show loop.

Last night's Raw did a 3.3 rating. Not bad at all.

Ricky Steamboat has an interview at ESPN.com to promote the upcoming WWE All-Stars video game. He talks about how having a great crowd can improve a match. This is definitely true. I wish more crowds were like that.

Percy Watson worked another dark match at the Smackdown taping, this time beating Chavo Guerrero. A timetable for his TV return/debut is still unknown.

In another rumor that just won't die, Brock Lesnar states that he was never interested in taking part in this year's WrestleMania. Time to put that one to bed.

That's all of today's news. More coming tomorrow. (There weren't any PWInsider.com questions today if you were wondering).
