Is Trent Baretta a future champion?, Rock vs. Mankind, 6-man tag title, Cena turning heel, Sarita's contract, Khali shooting update, Angle pulls himself from TNA tour

Not too much in the way of news today, but there are still some stories worth sharing. And, of course, more questions from PWInsider. We start off with one about Trent Baretta, asking if he's good enough to be in the US or Intercontinental Title picture. I think he has a pretty good upside, and at 23 he's still learning and improving in FCW. I wouldn't put him at that level YET, but he's certainly starting to get attention and move up the card.

Buck Woodward says that he should be taken off of TV and come back later with a new name. I really hope he answered that before the Drew McIntyre storyline started, because now he's being made into a sympathetic babyface the crowd is getting behind. Not to mention that his unique style and offense is getting him over as well (since WWE isn't crowded with X-Division guys). So, if he doesn't get destroyed in his feud with McIntyre and discarded, he should be kept under the same name and gimmick for the time being. He should get some promo time to further this feud as well. Long story short, he still has a way to go to be in the running for a title, but I think he's on his way barring any mishaps.

More questions and news after the break.

Will WWE over show The Rock vs. Mankind "I Quit" match again? I wouldn't rule it out. I remember that as a classic match. If (when?) Mick Foley or The Rock go into the Hall of Fame and get a big DVD retrospective, that match should definitely be on there, along with the Halftime Heat Empty Arena match. I guess the questioner thought it was too violent to be pushed by today's WWE? I hope that doesn't mean it won't appear anywhere.

I'll skip the one about my favorite WrestleMania matches. Too tough to answer right now.

No, I don't see WWE having a "6-man tag team match" championship. I don't see why they would. Imagine some of the crazy tag teams we'd end up with when they ran out of ideas on what to do with it.

There's another question about turning John Cena heel and what it would do to merchandise sells. WWE wants to sell as much merchandise as possible. Cena as a face sells a lot of merchandise. All of the younger Cena fans would stop buying that stuff if their hero "betrayed" them and turned heel. Remember, a lot of kids still think the show is real. It'd be a bit like if you gave kids a reason to hate the Easter Bunny. Easter stuff wouldn't sell nearly as much, if at all. I can't believe I just referenced the Easter Bunny in a wrestling conversation...

Anyway, as for other news, Sarita's new TNA contract is for 2 years.

There's a new story out about the shooting involving The Great Khali's bodyguard, and it greatly contradicts the original report. According to this version of the story, a fan tried to snatch one bodyguard's gun, so others opened fire. Only one fan was injured. Sources say that Khali had 15 bodyguards, who fired 40 bullets to scare away the crowd.

So we went from one possibly drunken bodyguard grabbing a fan and beating him then shooting into a crowd wounding 3 people, to 15 bodyguards firing warning shots after a fan grabbed a bodyguard and only one person was injured. Obviously there's a huge difference in the two stories. More on the story when it comes.

Update: But wait, there's more! Now apparently The Great Khali had already left by the time shots were fired, and at least two people were wounded. Khali sent a statement to TMZ stating that he had no bodyguards with him either. I don't think I've ever seen a story that there were this many contradictory sources on.

Finally, Kurt Angle pulled himself from TNA's European tour as his fiancée had complications during labor. His daughter has since been born. He will stay at the hospital until they clear his fiancée to leave.

That's all for today. More news tomorrow.
