HHH as a heel, Barrett's finisher, a Diva Rumble?, DX DVD, FCW talent not being called up, ex-Knockout to retire, AJ Styles injury update, WWE TV deal, Karen Jarrett back in TNA, DiBiase interview, HHH's movie, Smackdown Rating

Today's news starts with PWInsider.com's questions. Someone wants to know if Triple H won't return to take on Sheamus because he allegedly said that he wants to be a heel again. It'd be insane for him to return and not face the guy who took him out for over 8 months. I don't see them turning Sheamus face, so I don't see him turning heel for that. I'd be kind of surprised if they turned Triple H heel in the near future, because it seems like he's reached the level of "the fans respect him so much that they'll cheer him anyway" like The Undertaker or Shawn Michaels. I could be wrong though. There aren't many faces on Raw that he could go up against either. I'm not so sure I want to see him face Orton or Cena again, and John Morrison I don't think is quite there yet.

Since Barrett is facing Big Show now, will we see him get a new finisher given his difficulty hitting Wasteland on Mark Henry?

I think they might think of some other way of him beating Big Show. I don't know of any other finisher that he's had, so we'll see what they come up with. It could just be an exposed turnbuckle or something that does Show in.

Should WWE do a Divas Royal Rumble for a title shot at WrestleMania?
Honestly, I think this would kind of dilute the concept of the Rumble. It should only be for the WWE/World Title. I'm ok with a battle royal though, just not at the Rumble itself.

Someone asks about whether Madison Rayne's former SHIMMER tag team partner Nevaeh will go to TNA and team with her again. No one's heard anything to suggest this.

WWE's doing a new DVD on DX in April, The reason this is news is because it will have new interviews with both Triple H and Shawn Michaels. So, this should lead to speculation on a DX TV appearance. I'd be fine with a segment or two as long as they don't take up too much of the spotlight.

FCW talent and son of a WWE Hall of Famer Wes Brisco was scheduled to start doing dark matches as a prelude to working the main roster, but suffered a knee injury, so that's been put on hold.

Former TNA Knockouts Champion Taylor Wilde will retire on 2/5 after a match with Alissa Flash. I'm shocked! She's not even 30! I would have thought she had a lot left in her as far as wrestling is concerned.

Update:Wilde made a decision years ago that if she didn't feel like her career would set her to being financially set for life by 25, she'd leave the business. She turns 25 later this month. She had a few months left on her TNA contract, but saw how sparsely she was being used, so she decided to hang up the boots. She's going on to get a psychology degree, and if after that she gets a good enough offer, she could return. I liked Wilde, so I wouldn't mind a return in a few years time if she's a good enough worker then. She's wrestled since she was 17, so she has a good amount of experience. She wrestled in WWE developmental for a time as Shantelle Taylor, but never got to be on the main roster full-time. It will be interesting to see if she comes back in the future.

AJ Styles could be facing surgery that will keep him out 4-6 months. He's been pulled from TNA's European tour. Tough break for him and for TNA if he can't heal that injury. There's no telling what TNA will be like by that time and where AJ fits in to the picture.

WWE has a new TV deal for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. They'll now get PPVs as well. More TV exposure is always a good thing (except of course if it's too expensive or it's for something negative like steroids). They get the full edition of Raw every week, and in HD to boot.

Karen Jarrett, formerly Karen Angle, will be on Impact as part of a "family reunion" with Jeff and Angle. Wow. That's got to be somewhat weird for everyone involved. I wonder how much of the tension there will be grounded in reality. Jeff said recently that he and Angle get along professionally, but they had clashes behind the scenes years back. Has there been any TV show other than wrestling where they've had people clash on-screen because they clash behind the scenes?

Ted DiBiase (Jr.) was interviewed and mentioned how WWE wouldn't let him wrestle for almost an entire month following his concussion. More evidence that they take the issue seriously. I continue to be suspicious of the claim that over 30 wrestlers had concussions in 2010. Unless the claim isn't solely about WWE or TNA. If someone was showing signs of a concussion at a house show or on TV, it would have been reported. I know that it's not always a case of someone just being "knocked loopy" and showing signs though, so it's possible that that number's correct.

WWE Films' next release will be 2/18 with "The Chaperone" starring Triple H. You'll undoubtedly be reminded of this a million times by WWE. It will have a short theatrical release before going to Blu-Ray and DVD. Chalk this up to another reason to expect a Triple H return soon, likely as a face.

Smackdown scored its highest rating yet on SyFy, doing a stellar 1.95. They really pulled out all of the stops (barring announced appearances by Raw stars), so it's good to see that it really paid off.

That's all for today. And on time for once! More tomorrow.
