Matt Hardy interview, Raw ratings, more on Tough Enough, NXT wreslter works dark match, fan sues WWE, Hall of Famer diagnosed with cancer

We begin today by looking at an interview from Matt Hardy. He's getting ready for a "full-time return" to wrestling. His schedule will be reduced from how it was in WWE. He doesn't mention whether or not this means a run in TNA is in the works, though he does say that he'll "have a lot of cool surprises" in the beginning of the year. TNA's got to be considered a good possibility at this point.

He brings up how there's much less creative freedom in wrestling today, and that agents can overbook or overthink a match. He mentions promos as being especially choreographed. I would definitely like to see some (if not most) wrestlers get more leeway and freedom, but to be fair there are some people who benefit greatly from being scripted. Kazarian for instance either has a really bad script or no script at all and it shows.

Hardy also mentioned how he liked the freedom of TNA Reaction. Some people did well with it, and others just repeated the same points and rambled.

Hardy also feels that PPVs are outdated as it's so easy to find them for free online. That's unfortunately true, but I don't know how big of a chunk it takes out of the buyrate. WWE has its PPVs streaming online on WWE.com. They should push that more.

Hardy later claims that there were over 30 wrestlers with concussions in 2010. Neither PWTorch nor PWInsider confirmed or denied that number when covering the interview. That's definitely something both companies need to be trying to limit. They're doing better with it, but that number can be brought down. He takes some issue with the ban on chairshots to the head, stating that most concussions aren't caused by them, and there are ways to do them that are somewhat safe. They should be fairly rare and as safe as possible in my book.

He decries WWE's tough schedule, saying wrestlers need more time off to heal. I'd like to see WWE cycle some people out a bit more to heal and not feel like they have to have certain people on every show. If that means using some Raw guys on Smackdown house shows to make up for it or vice versa, then so be it. Maybe even use more local talent and FCW stars to fill things out some. Fortunately, if they keep making more stars, the load on the top guys won't be as tough.

He also says that there's more to Jeff's legal situation than meets the eye. We'll see.

Monday's Raw did a 3.1 in the ratings. Not as high as I would have hoped with the big matches and stories they put on, but still strong for a show without John Cena. Hopefully they don't give up on the younger stars just because they don't draw as well as Cena yet.

The first season of Tough Enough on USA will run for ten episodes.

Percy Watson worked another dark match before Smackdown. He's also worked some house shows lately if I'm not mistaken. I enjoyed his work on season 2, and if he's improved his work since then I think he could be a good addition to the roster. He teamed with Darren Young in FCW, and I wouldn't mind seeing that continue in WWE.

A fan is suing WWE, The Rock, and Triple H over an incident back in 2000. During the Iron Man match at that year's Judgment Day, the plaintiff claims that he was injured as The Rock and Triple H fought into the crowd. The Rock is accused of shoving a spectator into a woman who then fell on the plaintiff. He was 7 at the time, so the statute of limitations might not apply. WWE will review the case, and I'll follow that story in the future. I'll comment when more is known from both sides.

WWE Hall of Famer "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff just found out today that he has cancer. He's also had spinal cord injuries in the past. That's never a good diagnosis to hear.

That's all for today. Wednesdays can be slow sometimes.
