New WWE signing, Jericho update, Otunga appearance, Interviews with Clay/Slaughter/Maria, Hall of Fame rating, Hall update, Bret Q&A, Austin talks with HBK, and Questions on Regal, Kane vs. Abyss, Knockouts refs, MITB, and timing Mania

WWE has signed Ireland's Rebecca Knox to a developmental deal.

Matt Silva's signing was picked up by an Australian news outlet.
>They think he's the first Australian to be signed by WWE.
Nathan Jones? Outback Jack?

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

Chris Jericho is expected to show up in WWE from time to time when his schedule allows. He's got Fozzy commitments for the time being. I'm a big Jericho fan, so any time he wants to stop by is fine with me. He gets that the business doesn't revolve around him.

David Otunga has been appearing on the HLN network to discuss the Jodi Arias trial. It's going to take a lot of work for him to be seen as a serious wrestler vs. a wrestler-lawyer-actor. I'm not saying it can't be done (Miz overcame his reality show past), but it's going to take a while.

Brodus Clay was interviewed. He still hasn't wrestled at Mania. I don't know if anyone could match Sandow's vocabulary. Interesting idea about why some of us want brutal monsters. It's weird that he put over Clubber Lang for staying mad following his fights after that remark. As for Mr. T, he says he turned fown the WWE Hall of Fame. Cool story about being found by Dreamer. Interesting stuff about his character change, too. The personal stuff about school was also valuable to hear.

Sgt. Slaughter was interviewed. I'd love to know more about working for Vince, Sr.. The legal issues talk was interesting, too. Him meeting with presidents is really cool. NO ONE'S BIGGER THAN THE HULKSTER, JACK! The Iraqi sympathizer angle was SERIOUS BUSINESS.

The WWE Hall of Fame TV show drew 1.63 million viewers. Not too bad.

Scott Hall is considered to be "doing well" after his hip surgery. That's good to hear!

Bret Hart had a Q&A on Facebook. Here are some highlights. I want him to call the next big PPV match step by step if it's really that predictable.

Stone Cold Steve Austin talked with Shawn Michaels. Here are some highlights. If he hadn't officially retired, i think I'd be ok with him coming back and working some matches here and there. One of the all-time greats for sure. I can see him wanting to spend time with his daughter. Who can blame him? Interesting thoughts about the lack of selling in today's wrestling. Fans chant "boring" if the action's too slow. It's a shame that the wrestling school didn't work out the way that HBK wanted. I have heard that about the IC vs. WWF titles. At the end of the day, it is about making money and that's what they need to be thinking of with their champions. Rewarding hard work is noble, though.

Here are some highlights from a Maria Kanellis interview. Her boyfriend Mike Bennett had a WWE tryout a few months ago, so it's possible that the two of them end up there. Bennett has had the privilege of wrestling Lance Storm and Jerry Lynn at a time when both were winding down their in-ring careers.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. I honestly think that at this stage of his career he's best used as he is now: passing guidance on to and bringing along the stars of tomorrow. He's a great teacher. His commentary is also generally pretty good (possibly because it's not produced by Vince). That doesn't mean that he shouldn't get in the ring from time to time, but I like the idea of him working with the NXT crew.

2. I think it's pretty possible that we'll end up seeing Abyss back at some point. I wouldn't be shocked if Joseph Park donned his brother's outfit to become the Monster himself. But that's down the line. I don't see him as a rip off of Kane. There are similarities, but it's not a rip off. I like the Kane gimmick more than the Abyss gimmick since it has had more depth and character growth over the years. And in a "perfect world" they'd have their managers with them, but sadly that can't happen now.

3. I think they should sign Scott Steiner to ref the matches, and ring announce them. Seriously, though, it's not that big of a deal. They can probably just use a ref who works men's matches.

4. This might be one of those "suspension of disbelief" things where some logical things have to be ignored. Generally when someone cashes in, the opponent is either a babyface who wouldn't want to get DQ'd or is so vulnerable that they're fighting for survival. It's not a bad idea, but most of the fun of MITB is the surprise cash-in being something of a guarantee.

5. As they said, PPVs pretty much always end a little early for technical reasons. Cena/Rock was fine. They were building up to the big spots later in the match. Not every match needs to be quickly paced. And when did WWE promise the fans and wrestlers that the 8-person tag would happen? I'll file this one under "O" for overreacting.

More wrestling tomorrow and a Blue Echo podcast coming up.
