Superstars and Smackdown Reax - 4/12/13

Read on for my thoughts on yesterday's Superstars and Smackdown.
Superstars:
Pretty good opening tag match. It was predictable that the Usos would win, but THAT'S OK. They had a good match. I don't see either team being in the title hunt anytime soon, nor perhaps should they be. They need something more to their characters to warrant that. When was the last time any of them had any kind of mic time or other kind of character development?

Thanks for coming, PTP. The check's in the mail. It's obvious that WWE prefers getting over with the Indian audience to technical wrestling ability. It's not about how "good" of a wrestler you are to them. It's all about getting money from the little Jimmies, no matter what country they're from. If they think they can make more money from Khali winning than PTP, Khali's going over.

Smackdown:
Kick-ass opening segment. Everyone delivered on the mic. Man.

Wow, PTP got to be knocked down a peg twice in one taping. I think WWE was just keeping Hell No strong as they go back to feuding with The Shield. It's not a huge deal. Once this feud runs its course, it's possible that PTP could get to be in the spotlight.

The Shield are just all around great promos. One of my favorite acts in wrestling.

I'm glad they rebuilt Barrett there. They're so wishy-washy with their booking, so followup is going to be important.

Not a bad segment with Orton, Sheamus, etc.. I kind of miss the days of separate brands where they didn't run through things so quickly and have to do so much with their characters.

Not an amazing Divas' match, but they did about the best that they could have done with the time that they had.

Very surprising use of Triple H. I expected a big, long promo that put him over. I'm glad that The Shield got to be in the spotlight in some ways.

Interesting segment centering around Show. Maybe that contract gets thrown out and he takes some time off?

Kind of funny for Show to outsmart the faces like that. Classic heel move.

Sheamus vs. Henry works for me. They work together pretty well. What does this mean for the WWE Title picture?

Cesaro used to be a force to be reckoned with. Now he's a particularly vulnerable champion. I'm not crazy about him going down the ladder. I like Kofi, but they really had something with Cesaro there for a while.

Fandango on commentary works for me.

A lot of bells and whistles in Ziggler vs. Jericho to justify Jericho losing. Ziggler might be World Champion, but he's still presented as someone lucky to win matches.

Cool ending to the show. I wonder how long it will be before we see Jericho again.

More wrestling coming up. I should be able to do a Blue Echo podcast tomorrow.
