SMS Reax - 4/13/13, World Title situation update, Fandango madness continues, Interviews with Hornswoggle/Heyman, Rock update, Punk at UFC, and Questions on the WM29 cheater, Benoit, WWE's A.D.D., Bill Apter, and Taker

Saturday Morning Slam:
Not really much to sink my teeth into in the opening match. I like everyone in the match, but it didn't click like it could have if they had more time.

Clever post-match. Maybe they're setting up a 6-man?

Not a bad match by Kofi and Slater. I just don't think that it will have much meaning for either man.

Not really crazy about the segment with Henry and Bryan. I think the yes/no/hugging Bryan has about reached its limit as a character. I think of Paul Heyman's promo about Tazz: "Look at Tazz! Look at Tazz! This man was a killer. He was a machine! He was a wrestler. But wrestling is a dirty word to you; isn't it, Vince? Your father built a wrestling company, and you, you had to have sports entertainment."

Remember when Bryan went the distance against Mark Henry in a steel cage? Now he lasts as long as pretty much any other member of the roster. It's a real shame. He could be a big player in WWE if presented right.

While there were early plans for Jack Swagger to win the World Championship at WrestleMania, the DUI arrest meant that WWE put the kibosh on that. The idea then shifted to Dolph cashing in the night after. And this is why you don't use banned substances. As for Dolph's losing streak, WWE did this intentionally to set up potential challengers (since they've beaten him in non-title matches). Not a bad logic path IF he looks good now that he's Champion. I'm not holding my breath.

Fox Sports covered the Fandango madness. I don't see this going but so far.

Hornswoggle was interviewed. I can see girl gamers being upset with some of his comments. As for Warrior, he changed his name so he could use it outside of WWE. I agree that it's not worth being upset that someone uses slurs. It says more about the person using the slur than the person the slur is sent to. The Luna story was... interesting. Michaels and Taker would have been my first two picks for the Mount Rushmore of WrestleMania. Hogan and Cena are two good choices, too. Rock and Austin would be up there as well.

Paul Heyman was also interviewed. E-C-W. COO Heyman could be amazing. I don't think you can top this guy as a manager. Great to hear his insight. Good stuff about ECW and Studio 54. Working them marks.

The Rock will not undergo surgery, instead letting his tendons scar up. I'm not sure that's the wisest move, but he's got movies to film.

Scottish soccer time The Rangers played Fandango's theme song before a recent game. Ok then...

C.M. Punk was present at the finale of the Ultimate Fighter. It's cool in some ways that WWE stars and UFC stars can get along, since their fanbases sometimes can't.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. Yeah, it does look suspicious. What happened to investigative journalism being required before running something like that?

2. This one's pretty complicated. I think Dave knows what he's talking about here, so I'm not going to challenge him. The bottom line is that everyone's going to view Benoit differently (as with anyone who is a great person and then does something terrible). I haven't watched a Benoit match since the Raw tribute show because I can't separate the worker from what he did. He was one of my favorites, but that memory is forever tainted by his actions.

Nothing really to add to 3. WWE's booking is so last-minute and "A.D.D." a lot of times that sometimes it's a crapshoot.

4. Probably "Creative had nothing for him".

5. How do we know that DAVE isn't Bill Apter, and this is all part of an elaborate work? Wait, maybe I'M Bill Apter. Maybe everyone who's ever written about wrestling is Bill Apter.
IT'S A CONSPIRACY!

6. Taker's really been around the block. Cagematch.net says he's been in over 2000 matches over a 24-year-career. That's INSANE.

More wrestling tomorrow, and some Blue Echo podcasts coming up. Thanks for reading.
