Special TNA live event appearances, remembering Scott Epstein, TTTT audience, WWE production member passes away, Smackdown preview, Punk update, more on Lesnar, WWE live event canceled and Questions on TNA Xplosion, wrestling repeating itself, Batista at Mania, Sid Vicious and Roman Reigns

Taz cut a promo at a recent TNA live event in Long Island. Rosita was visiting at the event. Both live in the area. I'd definitely be OK with Rosita getting a second chance in TNA. Of note, Ethan Carter III beat Tommy Dreamer again at the show.

Here are details for the memorial for Scott Epstein. A number of performers have expressed condolences already.

Update: And here's the guest book. Extreme Rising had a 10-bell salute for Epstein ahead of a recent show. That's nice of them.

This year's Tribute to the Troops show did 2.31 million viewers. Not bad at all.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

Doug Getz, who had been a technical director for more than 20 years, passed away suddenly. He was set to work at the most recent Smackdown taping. More here. It's always unfortunate when a key backstage member is suddenly gone.

Set for Smackdown:
The Shield vs. The Usos
Big E Langston vs. Curtis Axel
R-Truth vs. Fandango
Goldust and Cody Rhodes vs. The Wyatt Family
Nikki Bella vs. Aksana

Nice little card, but it feels like it's missing a big match. Hopefully they push the tag team match as a big deal for the main event. Also possible is them adding C.M. Punk to team with the Usos to face all three members of The Shield, which would be pretty cool.

There's speculation of C.M. Punk looking to retire due to this Tweet. This doesn't seem to be the case. It's believed his current contract runs through the summer of 2014. It would be a big loss for him to leave WWE, but he can't wrestle forever.

Brock Lesnar was not at the most recent UFC event, perhaps casting doubt on him returning there.

WWE has canceled a live event set for 2/1/14 in Tampa. That's unfortunate, but sometimes it's necessary even in the best of times.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. Xplosion is kind of their Superstars or Saturday Morning Slam. Not a big priority at all since it does have such a small audience.

2. That's a definite side effect of watching THIS BUSINESS for so long. I don't know if wrestling going back to its roots is too realistic in 2013/2014, but there are definitely things in the past that would benefit wrestling today.

3. I don't know if they'll incorporate him not liking the PG direction into things. Likely opponents are Orton or Taker, though I wouldn't rule out Batista vs. Cena or Batista vs. Lesnar either.

4. There's a rumor that Sid used safety scissors. Yeah, be careful when you drink or you end up embarrassing yourself and your company.

5. WWE's high on all three men, just for different roles. I doubt Rollins and Ambrose will disappear without Reigns. All three men are younger than 30, so they've got great futures ahead of them.

More wrestling tomorrow.
