Why Philly didn't get Mania, WWE meets Scooby-Doo, TTTT hype, WWE's Internet use profiled, issues for Main Event, Punk appearance, wrestler as Santa, new WWE training camp, JR talks AJ Styles and Questions on AJ to WWE, an ECW-themed Hall of Fame and the Slammys

WWE skipped over Philadelphia as a home for WrestleMania 31 because they felt Bay Area officials put forth more of an effort to draw WWE there. Philly reportedly didn't even give WWE a formal offer. Their loss! I'm glad WWE got a partner city who appreciates them.

Update: Philadelphia officials and WWE responded to the story. Hopefully if WWE does go there, the crowd doesn't try to show off how contrarian they can be.

I normally don't promote WWE's non-wrestling endeavors, but a trailer involving Scooby-Doo and WWE is too good to pass up. Cartoon AJ's pretty cute.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

Tribute to the Troops got press here and here. Weird how they used Kaitlyn's real name but no one else's.

WWE's use of the Internet during its shows was profiled. That's a big thing for them.

Ion Television isn't going to air Main Event on Christmas or New Year's Day. No word on what that means for the show's status. I could see WWE airing it online, in which case I'll still cover it.

C.M. Punk is in the music video for the latest Less Than Jake song, "My Money is on the Long Shot." That's pretty cool.

Paul "the Butcher" Vachon dressed as Santa. He's the brother of "Mad Dog." Good story of how far he's come.

WWE is doing a new training camp at their performance center. DGUSA's Ricochet and CZW's Pepper Parks are working it. Parks has actually worked a number of squash matches for WWE. I hope both do well.

Jim Ross weighed in on the possibility of AJ Styles coming to WWE. He also talked about Dolph Ziggler being "punished." There are way too many ridiculous rumors out there. I'm also not so sure about AJ coming to WWE at 36. I'd like to see it, but they do seem to be more focused on younger talents.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. Oh, boy. In order: Building a debut is smart. WWE changes wrestlers' names for copyright reasons (so they can easily use someone's character on material once that person leaves and don't have to work out a new deal with the talent every time. As for a talent going through developmental, only a small percentage of fans keep up with that. It's much better for talent to get that ring rust off or what have you than to put someone out who they don't feel is ready just to surprise people. Now, WWE COULD have someone debut out of nowhere, but I don't know if that's a great idea since not a lot of the audience knows who the debuting talent is, since they've never been on WWE TV before.

2. They can. Will they? Don't bet on it. Even if they do, I wouldn't expect to see him on WWE TV before then. I don't see why they'd rush him on TV just to "one up" TNA without having a good plan for him and knowing if he'll be a good fit for the WWE style.

3. They didn't do an all-WCW Hall for Atlanta, so I'm not so sure. I do wonder if the ECW legacy is as big as it's made out to be.

4. I'd be surprised if they just re-used the one Slammy, but I guess it's possible.

5. Yes, WWE's commentary is bad in 2013. I don't think this is a new revelation to anyone.

More wrestling tomorrow.
