Superstars Reax - 1/9/16, Orton update, Cesaro note, new Vince merch, NXT and WWE live event notes, next Stone Cold podcast set, Network programming note, and Questions on TNA's live PPV, NJPW signings, the Berzeker, Nailz, and an EVOLVE cameo on Raw

Superstars:
- Breeze vs. Swagger:
I like Breeze's personality. He's much more interesting than Mike Dalton.

Good match so far from a psychology perspective.

That was good enough, I guess.

I thought Konnor was out of action?

- Goldust/Truth vs. Ascension:
This is a pretty crazy combination of characters.

Truth does his role pretty well, I think.

Goldust remains a strong worker. I really want to see him do a run in NXT before it's all over.

Konnor isn't doing a ton in this match, so maybe he's still recovering to a degree.

Good match!

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.

Randy Orton shot down reports of him needing neck surgery. The story I heard was he MAY need neck surgery, not that it was a given. Either way, I'm glad he won't miss additional time due to another surgery.

Cesaro recently went to get his progress evaluated on his injury; he's been regularly rehabbing at the WWEPC. I hope he comes back to do good things.

WWE has released a T-shirt featuring Vince McMahon's mugshot. That's pretty funny.

Here are results from a recent NXT live event in Florida:
- Sometimes the Hype Bros work the main roster, sometimes they work NXT. It's obvious someone likes Rawley enough to give him that kind of chance. He's not someone I'd put on the short list to call up. Enzo/Cass should be the next babyface tag duo going up.

- "Rich Swann" would be a great gimmick name for someone like Tyler Breeze or Dalton Castle. I look forward to seeing what Swann can do once he hits NXT TV.

- Manny Andrade is the former La Sombra, a pretty highly-touted signing.

- That's the first time I've seen Alex Riley's name in a while. I wonder when we'll see him back on TV. I think he can still contribute as a wrestler.

- Very interesting that Tino headlined the show, since he hasn't been on TV yet. I wonder if he'll be appearing on an upcoming episode.

As for notes about WWE live events this weekend:
- Chris Jericho replaced John Cena to face Alberto Del Rio. It's good to have Y2J around to fill in with top names gone. He has credibility as a big player, and that's important.

- Titus beat Stardust one-on-one again. Darren Young wasn't on either live event loop. He could still be somewhat banged up.

- El Torito teamed with Kalisto to beat Los Matadores. Sin Cara's still out. LM have been absent from TV for some time now.

- Brock Lesnar beat Sheamus clean.

- Brie beat Tamina with Summer Rae as the referee. I hope they have something in mind for Summer beyond that.

Stone Cold's podcast with Ric Flair will follow Raw. That should be a lot of fun. I hope they talk about the video game panel that got JR fired.

WWE now has almost all of the Raws from 1999, 2000, and 2001 up on the Network. Their library continues to grow.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. While they taped a LOT of material before BFG, they might have run out of ONO stuff by the turn of the new year. Also, they have more TV tapings at the end of the month, so they didn't have to do as many episodes of Impact this time. It freed up some time at a taping to do a ONO show.

2. The two issues aren't really related. Romero was targeted as maybe adding to NXT, whereas the Bullet Club guys and Nakamura are higher priorities from WWE. But as was said, it's definitely not guaranteed any NJPW names are coming to WWE.

3. I don't think he's had a match since 1998. I kind of want to see him in the Rumble now...

4. It's a shame we never got The Convict vs. Robocop...

5. That's probably why the arrest didn't last! Unless Gulak is also a cop. Hmmm.... There've been a lot of indie cameos over the years. I wouldn't read anything into it as far as Gulak being signed, although he did have a tryout in November.

More wrestling tomorrow.
