Raw Reax - 2/10/14

Read on for my thoughts on last night's Raw.

Ugh. This is the followup to Big Show getting his ass kicked so bad he disappears from TV and live events for a while? Come on, now.

I wasn't too crazy about the Authority segment, as it feels like we've been doing this for quite some time now. I'm ready for Bryan to start mowing people down on his way to becoming champ.

Nice six-man tag. It's great that they used the already-established Mysterio to build up the Wyatts. Cody and Goldust continue to be really impressive. I hope Cody goes really far.

I'm really surprised we're actually getting the Wyatts vs. The Shield since WWE doesn't usually do heel vs. heel matches. It's every bit as great as I was hoping for it to be.

Good promo from The Shield. I wonder who will take Dean up on that challenge. It is the season for surprise returns...

That was a really lame segment with Betty, the Divas and the New Age Outlaws. More of that variety how stuff WWE loves where celebrities are more important than the full-time workers.

I liked Fandango vs. Santino for what it was. I'm guessing Emma will make her debut around the time of the Elimination Chamber PPV.

Very unexciting promo from Sheamus. This is the guy they wanted to have Daniel Bryan face at WrestleMania? I don't know if he could have been hot enough to make that one worthwhile.

I liked the promos from Christian, Zeb and Cesaro. I hope Cesaro gets his chance to shine in the Chamber.

I liked the tag match featuring Sheamus and Christian. It made sense to have Swagger take the loss since he's not in the Chamber match. I'm guessing we might get Swagger vs. Cesaro at the Chamber PPV?

That was actually a pretty good Cena promo, since it didn't center on him facing Orton for the 476th time.

Remember when Ziggler was World Champion? If TNA was a viable No. 2, I don't think I'd object to guys like Punk and Ziggler jumping there to challenge WWE. TNA's very distant to WWE, though, and there's a chance they lose their TV deal in the fall.

I like Del Rio, but I don't think anyone buys him as a threat to Batista. He was fed to Cena and will be fed to Batista as well.

It's pretty weird to see HHH aligning with a face Batista given his antagonistic role with Bryan. Kind of inconsistent storytelling there in a way. Obviously Batista and HHH go way back, but you'd think as a face Batista would object to what The Authority's doing.

Pretty cool that Lita's going into the Hall of Fame. I can't say I'm too surprised. Unshockingly, the focus was away from the Hardy Boyz. I suspect Jeff at least goes in once he's done with TNA.

The WWE celebrity cameo show rolls on. This is when you break out the Daniel Bryan chants.

I liked the Usos vs. Axel and Ryback for continuing to build the Usos. I imagine they'll be tag team champions by the end of WrestleMania.

I'm glad Kevin Dunn and Vince are amused by the kind of thing we saw in that post-match. I'm pretty sure Raw isn't a sitcom, though.

I enjoyed Ambrose vs. Henry as far as re-establishing Henry without having him beat Ambrose clean. I was worried we were going to end up with another older star holding a title that wouldn't really add much to his resume.

That was a pretty cool post-match. I'm glad they moved the focus from Henry to the two emerging factions set to do war on PPV.

I liked the Divas match well enough. I'm much more interested in Emma vs. Summer Rae, though, since that feud's actually going somewhere.

I'm glad Rusev is getting some hype. I'm ready for a changing of the guard in WWE. It definitely won't happen overnight, though.

Bryan vs. Kane was done well enough. Out of context, getting in a fight with an authority figure who's not supposed to fight back is a heel move. It works here, though.

I enjoyed Cena vs. Orton once they picked up the pace at the end. They're both gifted athletes. We've just seen them face off SO. MANY. TIMES. By my count, this was their 17th one-on-one encounter on TV or PPV, dating back to 2005. That's not even counting all the tag matches, triple threat matches, etc. they've been in. It's time for some new opponents for both men.

More wrestling coming up.
