WWE Network Day 1 report

Read on for all the news related to yesterday's WWE Network launch.

Here's a list of what the Network has in the VOD section. It's OK that not everything is there on Day 1. There's more than enough to watch for now!

Unsurprisingly given the massive amount of people trying to access it at once, there have been many reported issues with signing up for the WWE Network. Things are just overwhelming on WWE's end.

Update: WWE put out a statement on the delays. I don't see how anyone could be surprised

WWE made quite a few edits to material available on the Network, cutting out really violent stuff, changing music and adding new commentary. I suppose on one hand we should be grateful for them having it available, but it feels weird for them to mess with historical material. They had to change some of the music due to rights issues. I don't know what the best solution was there. Cutting out the music they don't own would be odd, but would make sense.

As expected, there's a message at the beginning of Over The Edge 1999 in memory of Owen Hart. There are a good number of edits to that event to get around that whole situation.

Nudity is blurred out. Not really surprised there.

There's also a message for Chris Benoit material. His matches can be blocked under parental advisory.

A number of advertised shows are not yet available on the Network. I think WWE might have underestimated the difficulty of getting this thing off the ground with that much content.

Also of note, a number of international-based shows (WCW's Japan supershows for instance) are currently unavailable. WWE's kind of in uncharted territory with this thing, so I'm cutting them some slack for now.

WWE's EVP of Digital Media talked about the Network. It sounds like they're right about adopting technology!

Some Canadian Apple TV users were able to access the Network early. WWE's probably not too happy about that.

More wrestling coming up.
