NXT Takeover: The End Reax

Read on for my thoughts on last night's WWE Network special event.

There wasn't really anything groundbreaking on the pre-show beyond a solid Revival promo that will probably be shown again during the main broadcast.

Weirdly, the show's suddenly being subtitled The End of the Beginning. It was briefly known as Revenge before The End, so this is another change.

Almas looks like he could be No Way Jose's dance partner. Not really feeling that outfit.

- Dillinger vs. Almas:
Tye's chain wrestling is pretty impressive.

Almas is showing some good agility here.

That feigned moonsault into a real moonsault was SICK.

Both men showed their talent in that one. That finisher was a little underwhelming, but a fine debut from someone who's clearly got experience and confidence.

- A. Alpha vs. Revival:
What's great with these two duos is they wrestle like teams instead of two singles wrestlers put together. There was a time when a lot of WWE teams were just thrown together because Creative didn't have plans for them as singles stars. That's still true to some degree, but NXT is addressing that.

I like the battle of technique and speed vs. brawling and power.

Things are getting a little cutesy as far as choreographed double-teams, but there's no questioning the talent of the champs. They're a well-oiled machine as a duo.

The strategy of targeting Gable and punishing him as a duo of fresh men is being well-executed.

The Revival keep getting THIS close to winning with those double-team attacks.

Near falls EVERYWHERE. This is hot.

HOLY FUCK THAT BELLY TO BELLY.

GREAT ending. That was a really solid match.

All hail your new mastadons.

I'm really interested in seeing how this new team will do. They've definitely got impressive size and power.

I'm really looking forward to Bayley taking on Asuka again.

- Aries vs. Nakamura:
Nice opening sequence to feel each other out.

Aries makes the most of his size with ferocious attacks.

I love Shinsuke's strikes.

Clever triangle choke spot.

Nice counter to the Kinshasa into the Last Chancery.

A lot of solid counter-wrestling here.

OH MY GOD what a Death Valley Driver. I'm glad Shinsuke didn't immediately do a hurricanrana to no-sell it.

Scary missed suicide dive.

That was a really good match between two top pros. I'm hoping Nakamura's headed for the NXT Title picture now.

Wait, Samoa Joe just walked off with the back door and trunk open? Not a good idea, dude.

- Asuka vs. Nia:
I like Asuka having to compete as something of an underdog.

Nice counter into the Octopus.

I like how downright mean Nia is in the ring.

Good submission strategies from Asuka.

Both women giving it their all.

I was hoping that would go longer. I really enjoyed how their styles came together. Oh, well. Hopefully we see them collide again. A triple threat match with Asuka, Nia, and Bayley in Brooklyn could really be something to check out.

Well, that was intriguing! And Bobby Roode's very courteous for not interrupting Regal's interview.

Neville looks like he'd say something about being in NXT before it was cool to be there.

Another cool entrance for The Demon.

- Joe vs. Balor:
I hate the idea this feud can end by Joe just running out the door. This should be pins or submissions only.

Joe turning Balor inside out with that German suplex.

That enzuigiri spot climbing the cage was kind of scary.

Balor stepping on Joe to get momentum was clever.

Balor's soccer kick leading to Finn falling in the ropes was pretty clever, too.

BAH GAWD WHAT A SLINGBLADE!!

GOOD GAWD ALMIGHTY FINN BALOR IS BROKEN IN HALF!!! That Muscle Buster was sick.

Both men are fittingly spent after that battle.

More wrestling coming up.
