WWE wants UFC name at Summerslam, another big date for Cody, Ali tribute, work for WWE Creative, HHH talks Takeover, fan pulls gun on wrestler, Foley's health improving, soccer player at WWEPC, Raw audience, new face for TNA, TNA gets merch deal, and Questions on so much WWE early in the week, adding Club members, Hogan+Bischoff in TNA, WWE showing surgeries, and indie/international names in WWE

WWE has reached out to UFC regarding using fighter Paige VanZant in some form at Summerslam.

Is Paige vs. Paige TOO obvious? They could also do VanZant vs. Charlotte, but I suspect UFC would be reluctant for their talent to get too involved physically. I imagine no matter what we're in for a babyface Stephanie photo op moment to promote her memoir if this appearance is approved.

Cody Rhodes has been confirmed for PWG's Battle of Los Angeles, so that's another goal on his list. I wish him the best there.

WWE has released a video tribute to Muhammad Ali. I really hope he's HoF-bound in 2017.

WWE is seeking writers and writers' assistants ahead of the brand split. That's a pretty demanding job with a lot of short tenures.

Notes from Triple H's pre-Takeover conference call:
- The CWC is going to be really interesting as far as who ends up getting used. Seeing talent from all over the world is going to be a treat.

- NXT is going to be in a really interesting position as the year goes on, especially if top acts start leaving for the main roster left and right. On the bright side, I look forward to seeing some of the people who haven't gotten a chance to shine on NXT TV yet (or have just made a few appearances).

- Bringing up a lot of personnel from NXT could cause a big change down there. They're going to need to be careful with how much many people they take and how quickly.

- I REALLY hope the CWC isn't just flippy stuff. There's way too much of that in wrestling as it is.

- Roode and EY are incredibly talented; getting them in NXT/WWE is something of a no-brainer.

- I hope NXT continues to expand internationally in the months and years to come, especially as they push more international talents.

- Hopefully Itami can still bring it when he returns to the ring. He was hyped pretty heavily, and was just getting his "ring legs" as an NXT superstar when he got hurt.

- I'm all for a women's tournament along the lines of the CWC. It might have to wait until 2017, though.

- There continues to be talk of former MMA fighter Matt Riddle joining NXT. It's believed to be more of a "when" than an "if."

- I definitely think "The End" was so named to play off the speculation of NXT's future after the brand split.

A fan pulled a gun on a wrestler in Georgia to save a babyface from an attack with a steel chair. That's really scary. I applaud the heel for getting so much heat, but that's something that could have ended really badly.

Mick Foley has announced losing nearly 70 pounds due to DDP Yoga. That's great! I hope his health continues to improve.

German soccer player Tim Weise has been invited to work out at the WWEPC, leading to speculation of him being on his way to joining NXT. He's definitely got good size.

Raw's audience this week was about 3.26 million, virtually even with the Memorial Day episode. A big drop in hour three brought the average audience down.

TNA has hired McKenzie Mitchell as a new on-screen personality. She'll be a host for videos as well as helping out with their social media. Mitchell previously hosted sports games for Ole Miss and modeling following getting a broadcast journalism degree from the University of Mississippi.

TNA signed a deal with ProWrestlingTees to distribute classic and original designs. That's a good idea; the site's pretty popular for wrestlers.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. No matter how great the show is, that's a lot of wrestling in a short period. There's a reason Walking Dead and Game of Thrones aren't longer than they are, and only come on as often as they do. While I definitely think making each show feel distinct and having unique rosters will do a lot to counter that burnout, five-to-eight hours of WWE wrestling in subsequent days is going to be quite a feat to make into "must-see TV."

2. Finn Balor's pretty much the obvious choice. Beyond that, it will depend. Aries, Joe, and Nakamura are all interesting possibilities. If they add too many members, especially people who aren't at the same level as the founders, they run the risk of turning The Club into... well, the current Bullet Club.

3. I suppose it depends on how vast your definition of consulting is. Ultimately, Dixie was the one with final say. She just opted to make use of their advice more often than not.

4. I can see this argument. They probably should warn viewers who are sensitive to that kind of imagery before showing footage of surgery, etc.

5. Given his general comments now, I suspect he would have said something about hoping Vince didn't "bury" them and feed them to top WWE guys. I wasn't familiar enough with any of those names pre-WWE to say much, but it's clear a lot of them didn't fit the WWE "mold."

More wrestling tomorrow.
