ROH 16th Anniversary Reax

Read on for my thoughts on last night's ROH PPV.

-- Pre-show:
- Sakai vs. Kimura:
So-so start.

Wow. What an awful ref.

This is getting better.

Both women working pretty hard.

This is basically a handicap match!

Good enough work here.

Fine enough when it got going.

- Post-match:
Kimura and Kagetsu definitely got the most out of this appearance as far as all the interference, etc.

- Brandi vs. Tenille:
I would have popped for Tenille winning that early.

Dashwood is working circles around her holy shit.

This is getting better.

Ooh. Way to lessen the power of the Cross Rhodes.

Meeehhhhh.

- Dawgs/Bully:
Blehhhhhhhh.

STOP SHOVING BULLY DOWN OUR THROATS. HE'S ON SCREEN WAY TOO MUCH.


-- ROH 16th Anniversary:
- Bully promo:
NOOOOOO. Bully go home. I hope this is the last of his involvement tonight. ROH went so long without a regular authority figure being shoehorned into things, but now we've got to see Bully all the time.


- Flip vs. Takahashi:
Nice work early.

Takahashi is solid.

Good work from Hiromu here.

OH GOD THE HUMANITY HOW COULD HE DO THAT TO DARYL????

This is pretty fun.

Gordon's always impressive.

Ugggghhhh way to no-sell the Canadian Destroyer.

Definitely a lot of action here.

Pretty good ending sequence.

- Scurll vs. Punishment:
Oh this is already solid.

I'm really getting behind Martinez.

Scurll is a tough guy.

This is really selling Punishment as a tough dude.

I'm loving the story here.

Scurll's doing a good job trying to counter what Punishment brings to the table here.

Punishment looks like an absolute beast here. I love it.

OOOOHHHHHH so much for that dive through a table hitting.

Scurll is a talented guy. Both men look good here.

That was BADASS. Good work overall.

- King vs. Silas:
I love how these two work together.

This is a lot of fun.

Both men showing good contrasting strategies.

OH MY GOD that failed springboard.

HAHAHAHAHAHA poor cameraperson.

This is really solid.

HAHAHAHAHAAH good take on the selfie spot.

King is on a roll.

Silas has really excelled. ROH has been a great fit for him.

Damn you, referee!

Things kind of slowed down there at the end. Not enough to derail a solid piece of action, though.

- Aries arrives:
WHAT HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!!

I like that feud idea, although you'd think the Impact World Champion would aim higher. Imagine that title vs. title match!

- H. Bucks vs. SoCal:
Ahhh this is already pretty crazy. I love it.

The champions are bringing the fight to the heels.

I love a crazy hardcore match/stuntfest here and there.

This is already really crazy.

The heels are putting together some pretty good teamwork.

Awesome rana to the outside.

Damn. They're definitely using the weapons here.

That's one way to counter a sleeper!

God DAMN that belt has to hurt.

This is wild as hell!

What in the world is SoCal even trying with the barricades?

OUCH. So much for hitting Angel's Wings.

Everyone delivering big time here.

They're doing a lot of crazy work here. I'm impressed!

Might as well have Shane join SoCal at this point.

Bullet Club pulls out some absolutely crazy stuff.

Good luck getting out of that zip tie.

- Post-match:
Wow. Rude!

The Bully Ray show featuring some other wrestlers. This is terrible.

- Cody vs. Taven:
I like how this is going so far.

You leave Bury alone!!!!

Yeah, that's why you don't get distracted by who's at ringside.

Funny nod to Stardust.

Taven's impressing me here. He's not just "that other guy in the Kingdom who now has his own Kingdom" anymore.

I'm loving the back-and-forth.

I liked Taven outsmarting Cody and Bury there.

This is going quite well.

Oh, joy. Another ref bump.

Lots of interference tonight....

Ha. You know, more wrestlers should wear cups.

OH GODDAMNIT BULLY YOU CAN'T FEUD WITH EVERYONE!!

Pretty good, although the ending was probably a little much.

- Post-match:
WHAT THE FUCK???? Didn't see that coming.

Pretty awesome setup for SCOH.

Pretty wild stuff on this show.

- MCMG vs. Briscoes:
I'm already liking this.

Mark and Jay are on a mission.

The Guns starting to turn things around.

I'm not a huge Guns fan, especially with them following a big brawl with superkicks and dives.

Both sides are delivering good offense here.

I loved Shelley focusing on the cut above Mark's eye. Nice touch.

Nice physicality from the Briscoes.

The Guns are definitely a credible team, but ROH would be crazy to derail the Briscoes after Final Batle.

I would have DIED if Sabin won with that victory roll.

Man, the Guns aren't giving up easily.

Thank goodness!! Congrats to the new champs.

- Castle vs. Lethal:
Nice beginning to things.

Pretty solid work here.

Castle looks game so far.

Lethal is definitely a pretty good technical worker.

I'm liking this turning into something of a fight.

Lethal has an opening to try to win with the Figure Four now if he can capitalize.

I hate the multiple suicide dive spot.

Nice German on the outside.

OUCH. Poor ring announcer!!

I'm impressed with this.

Good counters going on here.

Nice work from both men.

NICE counter to the Bangarang.

I like how Lethal uses the Figure Four.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a title change at this pace.

HOLY SHIT what a German from the apron!

This has been a battle!

That was pretty badass. Good work.

That should be a solid next step.
