Main Event Reax - 7/6/19, Impact PPV opening, live JR podcast set, HHH appearance, Interviews with Kofi/Ospreay, why G1 has fewer veterans, NJPW merchandise note, Rey return announced, Jarrett appealing GFW ruling, Florida ring announcer passes, Cage in-ring update, SDL preview, Lacey comments on losing her father, first Super J Cup names, Moxley makes surprising indie appearance, Rock shouts out 205 name, NJPW sets another U.S. tour, Club-WWE update, WWE live event notes, and Questions on Street Profits as Public Enemy, not covering G1, Bischoff's status, and where former Impact names are

-- Main Event:
- Dana vs. Sarah:
I'm liking Dana's work here.

This is solid.

Not bad!

- Cedric vs. Roode:
These two work together well.

This was good for the time it had. Both men have good skills.

Slammiversary's opening video was released. I swear every year someone says Impact won't make it to their next anniversary show, but here they are at Slammiversary XVII.

Jim Ross and Conrad Thompson are doing a live podcast after The Gathering in North Carolina on August 17.

Triple H will discuss the WWE Performance Center's Content Innovation Lab at Vidcon. WWE's doing a lot with technology.

Kofi Kingston discussed UFC's Jon Jones potentially joining wrestling. I'm curious how that will go.

Will Ospreay discussed battling depression at the media day before G1 Climax. I hope he's able to continue to excel despite that, and hopefully he serves as inspiration for others experiencing similar issues.

- Ospreay also discussed wanting to face Amazing Red at Super J Cup, although Red wants the match to happen in House of Glory. I can see both arguments.

NJPW has fewer veterans in G1 this year in order to focus on younger talents. I can see how they want to build a new generation of stars.

NJPW sold some Texas-themed merchandise at their G1 event there. Pretty cool.

Rey Mysterio is advertised for Raw. I'm interested to see how he fits into things.

Jeff Jarrett is appealing a court's ruling dismissing his claim of copyright to GFW master tapes, arguing he can't trademark the content because Impact has destroyed the master tapes. I'm guessing the court's side of things is that he should have copyrighted that content before Impact used it, but we'll see if this argument holds any water.

Florida ring announcer Shannon Rose passed away after a long battle with muscular dystrophy.

Brian Cage will wrestle at Slammiversary. There was an angle at Friday's show where he went to the hospital, but it was just a way to build heat for tonight's event.

Smackdown Live has announced:
- Finn Balor vs. Shinsuke Nakamura in a non-title match
- Kevin Owens vs. Dolph Ziggler
- A Tag Team Championship summit with Daniel Bryan, Rowan, Big E, Xavier Woods, and Heavy Machinery
- Aleister Black's Extreme Rules opponent being revealed
-- Good to see them announcing things in advance.

Lacey Evans reflected on losing her father four years ago. I hope people dealing with what he was dealing with can reach out and get help. That's tragic.

The Super J Cup is advertising Will Ospreay, Dragon Lee, Caristico, El Phantasmo, SHO, and YOH. I'm curious what ROH's involvement will be.

Jon Moxley appeared at a Nevada indie show, competing with Killer Kross in a match that turned into a no-contest. I'd love to see those two collide on a bigger stage at some point; this was a cool surprise, though.

The Rock shouted out Ariya Daivari for having an old Rock suitcase. That's great.

NJPW has announced a Fighting Spirit Unleashed tour on:
- Massachusetts on September 27
- New York on September 28
- Pennsylvania on September 29
-- All of this is part of a retirement tour for referee Tiger Hattori. Notably, ROH will not be part of this tour. We'll see if the two sides work together for another Global Wars tour later this year.

Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows have been confirmed as signing new WWE deals, believed to be for five years and a notable financial increase from what they had been offered previously. Hopefully they can have a career resurgence after struggling initially; Monday was a good step in that direction.

At Smackdown Live's July 6 live event in New York, Matt Hardy and Chad Gable defeated Shelton Benjamin and Buddy Murphy. This is the first time either pairing had teamed.

At Raw's July 6 live event in Washington, DC, EC3 teamed with Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows defeated the three members of Lucha House Party. AJ Styles was involved in a triple threat match for the United States Championship with Ricochet and Cesaro. I wouldn't mind The Club expanding, though...

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. I don't really see the comparison, and I'm curious if anyone would have made the link if Paul Heyman wasn't there. I definitely don't see it as Heyman trying to do that gimmick over again as much as him recognizing the Profits can be cool characters for a younger audience. They were already doing the act in NXT.

2. I didn't, since I don't intend to do recaps of NJPW regularly. I don't expect to do that for NJPW anytime soon outside of their crossover with ROH, since they're still predominantly a Japanese promotion, but I do recognize they are doing more in the U.S. and becoming more important here.

3. AEW is OK with Moxley appearing on AXS's NJPW show, but they don't want one of their top draws appearing at a competitor's prominent U.S. event.

4. I'm under the impression he was initially not set for the show, but once the ad department sent word he was going to be there, there was an expectation he would end up working the show. Ultimately it looks like they're going to wait for him to get settled in in Connecticut before he starts his job; the last word I got was that he'll start picking things up after Extreme Rules.

5. I don't believe I've seen him involved in anything wrestling-related since his Impact departure two years ago. I'm not sure if there's any interest for him to return on any side.

6. I also haven't seen anything about him. If NWA ever gets a weekly show, we could see him rejoin Dave Lagana there.

More wrestling tomorrow.
