Query on Batista in WWE in 2015, live event notes, Impact preview, AJ return set, NXT preview, new VP in WWE, former WWE announcers battle, more on Sting, and Questions on Ziggler as Mr. Perfect, Rumble booking, pushing Rollins, and Roberts making a special appearance

First up, a query:
1. It's kind of funny people want Batista back in WWE after how poorly he was received during last year's return. I think he's got plenty of acting roles on his plate for now. I'm not so sure he'd drop that for one last run this year. I can see him having one last big match/feud with his former Evolution buddies, but not until his acting career has died down. He should ride that gravy train for a while if he really wants to be known beyond his WWE work.

Brie Bella replaced Nikki in a match at a live event this weekend. That's one benefit of having a sister who also wrestles.

Update: Nikki had a hamstring injury. She's still set for Sunday's show.

Dwight Howard of the Houston Rockets was involved in an angle with Lana at a live event, leading to Rusev vs. Roman Reigns. It's cool to add some local flavor to the the events.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.
Set for Friday's Impact Wrestling:
- Lashley vs. MVP in a Streetfight in the streets of NYC
- Kurt Angle/Bobby Roode vs. Low Ki/Eric Young
- Matt Hardy vs. James Storm
- Ethan Carter III vs. Jeremy Borash
- Khoya vs. Tigre Uno
- Havok vs. Gail Kim
- Feast or Fired match: Samuel Shaw vs. Crazzy Steve vs. Robbie E vs. Jessie Godderz vs. Tockstar Spud vs. Gunner vs. Eddie Edwards vs. Davey Richards vs. Bram vs. Magnus vs. Austin Aries

There's some interesting stuff there. Should be some good matches and some necessary character advancement. Who gets fired?

TNA will come back to German TV on DMAX with a 90-minute version of Impact. They'll be on a six-episode trial run. That's good for them!

AJ Lee is set to be back in action at Friday's NJ live event. It could just be a one-time gig for her home state before she rests some more.

Set for this week's NXT:
- Sami Zayn vs. Tye Dillinger
- No. 1 Contendership tournament: Curtis Axel vs. Finn Balor
- No. 1 Contendership tournament: Tyler Breeze vs. Hideo Itami
- The Vaudevillians vs. Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy
- Charlotte vs. Sasha Banks

There's some potentially good stuff there.

WWE made an internal promotion. I don't know how much that will actually change things.

Jim Ross and Josh Mathews got into a bit of a heated discussion on Twitter. I also didn't expect that from Mathews. He's entitled to an opinion, but that was kind of harsh.

While the original plan for WM31 was Sting vs. The Undertaker, but now it definitely seems more likely we're in for Sting vs. HHH. I think HHH has more left in the tank than Taker at this point, so that might be what they're thinking. Taker is rumored to be facing Bray Wyatt at WM31.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. If you take away the physical resemblance and "I am perfection", I also see more of HBK than Hennig. I definitely see the Hennig comparisons, though.

2. Oh, definitely. I wouldn't be shocked at all. Honestly, it's not a bad idea. Brock and Cena have been built pretty strong compared to Rollins. It wouldn't be believable for him to win decisively. He's the underdog to the two bigger veterans.

3. I originally thought this was a really absurd idea, but I think it could actually work if they stress how the contract gives him a title match at any time he wants. I think the proportion and enthusiasm of Rollins fans on the Internet is out of sync with the fanbase at large, though. Don't expect that to actually happen.

4. I don't know if the fans are ready to buy him as a face at Cena's level just yet. He's definitely got a bright future, though.

5. I think Roberts already got his send off at Old School Raw and going into the Hall of Fame. Part of me would love to see it, but I don't think they'd do it for the reasons mentioned.

More wrestling tomorrow.
