WWE signs top lucha star, TNA announces new TV home, "WWE Week" on USA next month, Lana return update, a look at the Wrestling Album, WWE scholarships, TNA+ROH audiences, more on Charlotte angle, AJ penning memoir, Cena added to important WWE show, and Questions on the Rumble vs. the NFL playoffs, Tunney in the HoF, Cornette working in NXT, WWE using Rousey, and using HBK more

As was rumored to be in the works, WWE has signed the former La Sombra to begin working in NXT. He has already reported to the WWE Performance Center. He's a third-generation luchadore with a lot of titles and matches to his name, so this is definitely a big deal. I hope he does what they were hoping Mistico would do as the first Sin Cara and becomes their next big Latin star.

Update: WWE.com publicized the signing. I can't wait to see what he does there.

TNA announced Impact Wrestling will begin airing on Pop TV (the former TV Guide Network) in January. That's great! The show will be able to reach a larger audience there than on DA. I hope this is the shot in the arm they need; things were looking bleak there for a while.

Update: Coupled with this announcement is one that Paragon Pro Wrestling, which is currently airing on Pop TV, will be moving to other networks. I think there would have been a great opportunity for TNA to use some of their wrestlers to bolster its own roster. Hopefully that doesn't bury the upstart promotion.

Everything else from Thursday is after the break.

TNA sent out a press release in regard to moving channels. I'm interested to see how they do on Tuesdays. They DEFINITELY don't want to compete with any live editions of Smackdown. We'll see how this works out for them. I hope fans give them another chance. The show is often very good.

Update: Pop TV shot down reports of TNA paying for airtime on the network. You can't trust everything you read.

Update: TNA's wrestlers apparently learned about the move to Pop TV at the same time as the general public. I'm glad they understood why secrecy was important there.

USA Network will feature a WWE Week in December with the Slammy Awards on Raw, a live Smackdown, and Tribute to the Troops. I think that's a good Christmas week lineup. Go ahead and prepare for silliness and babyface wins, because that's what we're almost definitely getting.

Update: There will be no NBC airing of Tribute to the Troops this year. I don't think the numbers for those  were really what NBC wanted anyway.

Lana was recently training at the WWE Performance Center. I assume she'll become a full-on wrestler in 2016.

Rolling Stone looked at the 30th anniversary of The Wrestling Album. The '80s were a different time. It is pretty interesting to think of the resistance to having heels and faces on-screen together.

WWE awarded more scholarships for students of Full Sail University. That's been a great partnership for both sides.

The most recent episode of Impact Wrestling on DA drew 202,000 viewers for its first airing and 78,000 for its replay. That could very well be the lowest audience the show has ever gotten. It's definitely the lowest on DA. You know TNA's REALLY banking on their new TV home turning things around given the numbers they've drawn in 2015.

The second-to-last episode of ROH on DA got 114,000 viewers. I'm curious to see what their audience will be on Comet starting next month.

In regard to the controversial angle featuring Charlotte that closed Raw, it was something presented to he and something she had feedback on. However, neither of her parents were consulted before the angle aired. They walked a really fine line there. I hope it was worth whatever it did for the build to the Divas' Title match.

The former AJ Lee will write a memoir describing her rise to success. It's due out in Spring 2017. Just imagine the pipebombs that she can drop now that neither she nor Punk are in WWE! I can't wait to read it.

John Cena has been added to the first Smackdown taping of 2016. That episode will start the show's run on USA. Maybe the show will be treated better then? At least for a little while?

For my take on Thursday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. I'm a little surprised they didn't move it. We'll see how that works for them.

2. I remember Santino mentioning him a few years ago, so presumably there's not THAT much heat on him. I'd definitely like to see him go into the Hall of Fame someday.

3. I don't see it working for either side in 2015. Corny's one hell of a promo, but he's also a liability given his temper. I'd like to see Regal take over, personally. He's a great teacher.

4. I'm sure they'd still love to use her! She's still got name value.

5. He probably wants to be with his family more. He's earned that right, I think! Honestly, as big of an HBK fan as I am, there's not much reason to use him regularly if it won't get over the current generation of stars. Do we really need another non-wrestler as an important part of the show?

More wrestling coming up.
