Former NXT security head passes, NXT live event notes, WWE head writer dropped, another Goldberg date, a big look at WWE's business, Anthem-TNA update, TNA team gone, 2017 TNA schedule filling out, more new Network content, and Questions on a female Royal Rumble, TNA using Corgan's music, why Raw's roster is bigger, Shane disciplining Ambrose, and why WWE Films aren't on the Network

Former NXT security head Todd Garzon has passed away. Best of wishes to his friends and family at this time.

At an NXT live event in Florida:
- The Bollywood Boyz lost to Dawkins and Crawford.

- TJ Perkins beat Gran Metalik

- Lana beat Sarah Bridges (formerly Crazy Mary Dobson). Lana worked a different, babyface character. That's very interesting. Maybe she'll end up with Enzo and Cass after all?

- Cedric Alexander beat Dan Matha, but was checked out by trainers after the match. The match seemed to have been cut a little short. I hope the Charlotte native is OK.

One of WWE's head writers, Tom Casiello, has been let go by the company. He had worked for the company from 2006-2012 before returning late last year. Casiello was part of long-term planning and oversaw both main brand's writing teams. It will be quite interesting to see what, if anything, that means for Creative going forward. Obviously it's still Vince's ship or what have you, but Casiello would have been an important part of the process.

- Casiello summed things up, then went on to make further statements that he had a great time there, has nothing bad to say about anyone, etc. That's very classy of him. I wish him the best in wherever life takes him.

Goldberg has been announced for the January 23 Raw, the final episode before Royal Rumble. I expect some serious ass to be kicked that night.

Vice Sports took a deep look at the business of WWE:
- Shane and Stephanie are certainly different people behind-the-scenes, each with their respective strengths and goals.

- I really wonder how mainstream wrestling would have been if it didn't become sports entertainment.

- I agree being in tune with the live crowd is key. So many talents have memorized 50 spots and are more focused on that than the pacing the crowd dictates.

- There were predictions the Attitude Era would be fairly short-lived due to alienating advertisers with risque content. A lot of companies want to shy around from the "Jerry Springer" kind of crowd.

- Vince is a very commanding presence who expects a lot from people. It's a double-edged sword.

- Oooooh interesting comments about Stephanie's impact on Creative.

- NXT expanded the type of fans WWE reached.

- Bayley moving merch. That's hilarious.

- Also interesting about why HHH is doing NXT to be free of Vince.

- Nice burial of the smarks. I love it. Millennials don't watch TV like their parents do, so that explains some of why ratings are down.

- I'd also really like to see better characterization.

- The live attendance for WM32 was believed to be their biggest live attendance ever, but they had already inflated previous attendances, so they "had to" inflate things for WM32, too, for it to reflect that achievement.

- Worrying talk about how often Vince changes his mind.

- We NEED a great Vince biography about working for him, behind-the-scenes stories, etc.

- Oooooooooh really interesting about Dunn.

- I'm very curious how Shane would change Creative.

- There's a TV show to be made about working for WWE and how cut-throat it is.

- WWE Network is an evolving thing. Stumbling blocks happen.

- Yeah, the Network is a really risky venture as far as giving away SO MUCH CONTENT at such a low price.

- WHOA. That's a huge churn rate. I do assume a lot of people subscribe multiple times to do a lot of free trials.

- Oh wow. That social media stat is pretty crazy, too.

- Yeah, social media isn't a big money maker in of itself. The goal is to engage people for the Network, etc.

- Vince is definitely planning on the next generation, but the argument is of course that he should have passed the torch years ago.

- VERY interesting read overall.

Anthem Media has officially moved to funding TNA, and they now have an executive in the TNA offices in Tennessee. An announcement should be coming soon.

The Tribunal are no longer part of TNA following their contracts expiring. TNA is open to using to using them some going forward, but it's not easy logistically to use one talent from Canada and another from France on a regular basis. So, that explains why they lost to Shera and Al Snow. It will be interesting to see what's next for all four of them.

TNA is setting up live events for 2017, including the India tour being scheduled for summer. That's good news for all of them involved.

TNA plans on doing another set of tapings in Orlando in early March, and a live event in that area around the time of WM33. So, they're going to be able to run more regularly under Anthem's ownership.

Another new "Story Time" is coming after Raw. Alundra Blayze/Madusa will be on Legends with JBL Wednesday.

This week's NXT will feature the first round of a tournament to declare a new No. 1 Contender to Shinsuke Nakamura:
- Eric Young vs. Tye Dillinger
- Roderick Strong vs. Elias Samson
- Oney Lorcan vs. Bobby Roode
- Andrade "Cien" Almas vs. No Way Jose
-- The show will also feature footage from Nakamura vs. Joe in Australia.

WWE Network is adding episodes from Smackdown from 2006 as well as 2007 as they continue to look to fill out that section of the vault.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. Maybe at some point in the future when there are enough talented women around to do a good job of it. Let's see how things go with the women they pick up from the upcoming tournament first.

2. I think that's entirely possible, unless Anthem thinks the music is worth making a new deal for. I wouldn't think Corgan would avoid making money from his music being in TNA if they'll give him a good price for it!

3. That, plus Mickie James is expected to go to Smackdown. Hopefully some NXT names will join the ranks in 2017, because things are pretty thin over there right now.

4. We'll see! I certainly don't expect Shane to give him any more title shots anytime soon.

5. WWE would rather have others pay them for the rights to show them on DVD, etc. than air them on the Network. Same for Raw and Smackdown!

More wrestling tomorrow.
