Interview with Christian, Raw+Smackdown audiences, HoFer signs new WWE deal, new NXT commentator, and Questions on Corbin's booking, Joe's future, Goldberg-Brock (again), and Benoit chants

Christian discussed creative freedom and more:
- Certainly some people need a script to be good, but others can improvise and be really entertaining.

- It's definitely good to have a new outlet and a new challenge after doing the same thing for so long.

- He certainly had a full career to be proud of. A lot of people have had to hang up the boots without that level of success.

Monday's Raw drew 3.11 viewers, slightly up from last week. The audience generally stayed through all three hours, which seems to indicate Charlotte vs. Sasha kept their interest through a long show.

Ric Flair has signed a new deal with WWE and will be appearing regularly on Raw. I'm split on that. Ultimately it will be a matter of how much it benefits people like Sasha. At times he took the attention off Charlotte.

Smackdown this week drew 2.58 million viewers, pretty close to last week's number.

Percy Watson has joined the NXT announce team. It wouldn't surprise me if they're grooming him to replace Corey given Corey's main roster commitments. Corey's got a lot on his plate, so that makes sense.

Read on for my thoughts on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. Considering Del Rio was a multiple-time World Champion who got a lot of big matches in big events, Corbin could certainly do worse. Baron's got something of a ceiling since he shares the heel side with the Wyatts, AJ, and Miz. If he got a heel partner, he'd be in a pretty crowded tag team division. This is another case of how not everyone can be pushed/utilized.

2. The argument here is Joe has hit a ceiling as far as being the top act in NXT. He's in something of the Orton/Cena/Taker/etc. role where he's done pretty much everything and can't go any higher. I think how to use him is situational; it will depend on what things look like when it's time for him to come up. I would initially think you could put him in the Rumble and have him go on a tear there, BUT that match is now the "Brock and Goldberg kill people" match so he'd be lost in the shuffle. I do think it makes sense to push the 37-year-old Joe pretty hard when he comes up. He's a credible top guy.

3. They could have, but they want to milk as much as they can from the Goldberg Farewell Tour. So get out your Game Boy Color and put on your Blink 182 CD because it's time to party like it's 1999.

4. I think it's perfectly reasonable to enjoy the match in that context while questioning whether it was the right move from a long-term perspective.

5. People who are going to make that kind of chant will find pretty much any opportunity to do that kind of thing. There's only so much the company can do to combat that sentiment. Hopefully ten years from now people associate the move with other wrestlers and don't feel the need to chant that kind of thing. Then again, "What" is still a thing....

More wrestling tomorrow.
