Smackdown+NXT+Raw live event notes, former cruiserweight champion returning, Smackdown main event, and Questions on Lana wrestling, why Maryse is in WWE, 205 Live succeeding, WWE having backup plans, and accessing Corgan's TNA tenure

At a Smackdown live event in Oklahoma the night before TLC, The Hype Bros, Apollo Crews, and Jason Jordan beat The Vaudevillains, Curt Hawkins, and Viktor. For whatever reason, neither Chad Gable nor Konnor competed on that show. I'm sure some will speculate either or both have nagging injuries, though they competed the next night.

HoHo Lun teamed with Tian Bing in a loss to Big Damo and Alexander Wolfe at an NXT event in Florida. Gran Metalik also beat Lince Dorado. There was a good amount of cruiserweight action for NXT this weekend.

At a Raw show in Mexico:
- Emma teamed with Dana Brooke in a loss to Bayley and Alicia Fox. As far as I know, Emma wasn't billed as Emmalina.

- Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel were on the same team. I wouldn't assume that means anything for them working together on TV again. The match was just probably already booked some time in advance and they just ran with it.

Tajiri has announced a WWE return for Spring 2017. I assume he'll be part of 205 Live. He's a good choice to be a veteran and help bring everything in that show together. At 46, I don't know how long this will last, but I think it will be a valuable learning experience for the younger, newer names on the show.

Smackdown's main event Tuesday will be AJ Styles vs. James Ellsworth for the WWE Championship. The story is Ellsworth wanted AJ to win so he could beat AJ for the title. It wasn't anything personal, in other words. Somehow, I don't think Dean Ambrose will take it that way!

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. It certainly doesn't look like they plan on having her wrestle anytime soon! Her injury seems to have pretty much shelved plans of her competing.

2. A lot of why they brought her back was to add viewership to "Total Divas." As we've seen, sometimes appearing on that show means more than what someone brings as a wrestler/performer. I do think she adds to Miz's Hollywood act.

3. It's definitely in a good timeslot because there's a big audience that's already there to watch wrestling. If they want some more action, they just have to stay in their seats! This way, they don't have to worry about people only showing up for the "important" stuff on Smackdown. At any rate, I think expecting it to be as big as Smackdown is way premature, given the niche appeal of the division. It will take convincing people smaller wrestlers and their stories matter for people to overcome however many years of not caring about anything but Raw or Smackdown.

4. They're pretty experienced at shaking things up on the fly after so many years of running wrestling cards.

5. I think it's fair to say Corgan wanted to make more of a change in TNA than Dixie wanted him to make. Than can always be a problem for those currently in power. The old self-preservation instinct kicks in.

More wrestling tomorrow.
