Another Sheffield surgery, Questions on WWE PPVs, TNA releasing Jay Lethal, and Sheffield's return, a new promotion/brand for TNA?, more from Savage's brother, Miz charity, more FCW wrestlers, new WWE merchandise deal, lenghty Angle interview, Del Rio talks WWE 12 and more, WWE stock update, Impact Wrestling rating, Warrior comments on lawsuit, new WWE trademark, Bill DeMott teases a comeback, Angle's Olympics go to be profiled by TNA, Crimson interview, and a Sammartino rumorbuster

Former Nexus member Skip Sheffield will undergo another surgery as part of his recovery from injury. I wish him the best in his recovery. He definitely has a look WWE can capitalize on, and at 29 he still theoretically has most of his career ahead of him.

Here's my take on today's PWInsider.com questions:
1. I had actually overlooked that. As of now, there isn't a WWE PPV in September! I don't think they'd go 6 weeks between Summerslam and Hell in A Cell, so presumably they're just deciding which PPV to put there and when. I seem to remember them trademarking "WWE Uprising", so that could be what they go with. As for an Old School vs. New School PPV, I'm not so sure that would be such a big hit. They'd be better served using that time to build new stars than bringing in the older guys. There's a reason most of them have retired. It's nice to use them here and there, but the PPVs should be saved for the people who are on the show most of the time (with the exceptions of big events like Mania, where they can have some non-regular performers make special appearances).

2. It feels like I'm usually arguing with someone and/or defending business decisions, but I agree with this one. I'd say 10-12 PPVs including Mania is plenty. WWE, however, is trying to get as much revenue as possible so they do more than that. Even a somewhat poorly-performing PPV makes them money. Obviously they're not going to go to one every week or anything, but for now it seems like 13 a year is what they're shooting for.

More answers and news after the break, starting with a question on Jay Lethal's release.
3. Pretty much the latter, though I can see why people would think it was part of a storyline! They like their stories based in real life there. Lethal's taking independent bookings, which he wouldn't be able to do if he was still in TNA's employ (the indy companies have to book talent through them).

4. Talk about timing. He doesn't have to do either technically, but it wouldn't surprise me to see him join either group. He's technically part of the Raw roster, but that hasn't stopped them from doing angles before. I know absolutely nothing about Kimo.

Nothing to add to #5, other than there's a good deal of respect stemming from Taker staying with WWF during the battle with WCW.

There will be a taping for "All Wheels Wrestling" at the Impact Wrestling Zone late in June, a day after the tapings for Impact Wrestling. TNA owns the trademark, so it seems to be something they've cooked up. The project is designed to appeal to both wrestling and motorsports fans. Eric Bischoff is a noted motorcycle enthusiast dating back to at least the WCW days, so this could very well be something he's involved with.

Lanny Poffo had more to say about the passing of Randy Savage recently. A nice read.

The Miz will be playing in a celebrity golf tournament for charity.

WWE has signed two new FCW superstars. Mack Hetfield, in addition to having one of the worst and most unrealistic names ever, was Matthew Justice in the Midwest independents. Why they couldn't just call him Matt Justice is beyond me. They've also signed someone who will go by the name Nick Rogers.

WWE has signed a deal with a company called Dream Theater to sell merchandise in India. If they can do well in that market, that would be a heck of a coup for business. Also, there's someone on the planet right now legally named Jiggy George. That's hilarious. A CEO nonetheless.

The Sun has a new interview up with Kurt Angle. That's the first I've ever seen about Angle possibly ending The Undertaker's streak. Not that that makes it invalid. The two of them did have a big match the month previous, so them facing off then wouldn't have been shocking.

If Shelton's still close to being as good of a worker (or better) than when he left WWE, I wouldn't mind in the least if TNA picked him up.

The thing about not knowing they were going to use Chyna at the PPV until 2 days before it doesn't make sense, seeing as how her appearance was taped 2 weeks before it. I'm going to assume he just misspoke and/or was tired and flubbed because of that.

Not many people actually "knew" they were going to use Isis The Amazon (who was going to be Aloisia on Season 3 of NXT). There were rumors and speculation, but nothing concrete. And technically we wouldn't know for sure until they actually used her.

Did.. he really say that it'd take them 3-6 months to write him off of TV? Wrestling promotions write people off all the time for injuries. They wrote Bobby Lashley out pretty quickly as well when he wanted to do MMA.

ESPN has an interview with Alberto Del Rio promoting WWE 12. He makes a phenomenal heel. How awesome would it be if he rolled up to a fancy hotel in one of those cars? He nailed the comment about the difference between WWE and lucha. Matches with Orton, Cena, and Taker would all be fantastic.

WWE's stock continued its drop today, outpacing the overall drop in the stock market. That's definitely something to keep an eye on. Both eyes even.

Impact Wrestling did a 1.01 rating Thursday night, going up against the NBA Finals. Ouch. That's not good at all going into one of their top PPVs.

The Ultimate Warrior still plans to release his anti-Hogan video, despite lawsuit threats. He had more to say on the issues with Hogan on his Twitter. I'm very interested in this video. I'm normally not one to delve into "dirt" but the angle of Warrior and Hogan not getting along (given their famous confrontation at WrestleMania) is hard to pass up.

WWE has trademarked the phrase "Sooner or Later Everyone Taps" for merchandise use. Another Daniel Bryan shirt perhaps? He's working out better than I expected him to when I first saw him on NXT Season 1. Granted, he's adapted to the WWE style very well since then.

There are rumors floating around that Bill DeMott will return to the ring for WWE. He stoked the flames on Twitter. A feud with Andy and/or Luke would be only natural (though there isn't any word on the WWE future of any of the contestants).

TNA will be following Kurt Angle's Olympics training on Impact Wrestling. When one of your top stars could be on something that big, you promote it.

TNA's Crimson was the subject of an interview. He's definitely done a lot in 6 months. I see good things in the 26-year-old's future.

Finally, despite online rumors to the contrary, Bruno Sammartino is still alive.

That's all for Friday's news. More to come tomorrow. Thanks for reading!
