Nash in altercation, WWE settles $5 million lawsuit, Questions on Jericho in ROH, FCW developing talent, WWE insulting commentators, Savage-Vince, and Matt-Edge, Ron Simmons interview, more plans on TNA spotlighting the X-Division next month, TNA/Slammiversary hype, JR to undergo surgery, Foley talks TNA departure, and an update on Tough Enough winner Andy

Kevin Nash was arrested recently following an altercation with someone outside of a bar. He was taken in on suspicion of battery, but the charges were dropped due to lack of evidence. Nash says that he never should have been arrested in the first place. It doesn't go into too much detail, but I can't really blame him. It might be different if he beat the guy with a pipe or something, but it looks like he was protecting himself and his wife.

Update: Nash commented on the arrest on Twitter. That certainly changes the situation!

WWE settled a lawsuit which stemmed from an injury allegedly sustained from a low-speed, low-impact collision with a vehicle operated by a WWE employee. That's a pretty big payday. I'd love to hear/read some opinions on this from people familiar with the law.

On to PWInsider.com's questions:
1. Nope. Well, they might attempt it, but it's a long shot. He hasn't said anything to suggest that he'd be willing to wrestle anywhere except for WWE.

After the break, I evaluate FCW as a training territory and get to the rest of the day's questions and news.

2. Most people who come to FCW already have experience elsewhere anyway. It's only been around about 4 years, so anyone who's wrestled longer than that had to have started elsewhere. To some degree, it's more of a "continuing training" or "refining" or "adjusting to the WWE style" place than a place to start. As far as anyone from there getting over to a big degree in WWE, it generally takes a while to really move up the card. Generally, more experienced wrestlers who have honed their craft over the years are the ones who get elevated. Randy Orton and Batista didn't really become big stars until they had been in WWE for a while (post-OVW). So, as time goes on and they get more training in FCW and WWE, I think you'll see more people get over to a bigger degree. Not to mention that WWE only has so many roster spots and can only push so many people at once, so you're not going to see many FCW faces in the mix while they still have people from previous developmental systems.

3. You make a good point. Now, JR is JR and there's no replacing him, but I think that does play a role. As generally amused as I am by Michael Cole, the commentators bicker too much at times and the little jabs at each other aren't very productive (unless it's part of a storyline, as in Cole vs. Lawler).

4. This is Vince McMahon we're talking about. He's very hard to "read" so I don't know if it boils down to just that. There have been a number of interesting and plausible theories, but unless we hear the answer from Vince himself, it doesn't look like we'll know for sure.

5. Presumably what they said. I'm not so sure that WWE would have them work together afterward if they got in a legitimate fight. I remember that time period fairly well, and you weren't the only one who thought it might have been legit!

Ron Simmons, also known as Faarooq in WWE, was interviewed recently. Heck of a tough guy.

TNA has a new press release for Destination X, confirming their plans on promoting the X-Division then. How that show does will be an interesting barometer for how they should treat the division going forward. Maybe it can be an annual themed event focusing on the X-Division and using the 6-sided ring (I don't think they should bring that ring back full-time. It's kind of goofy-looking once you get used to 4).

Update: the company is also looking into bringing in past X-Division wrestlers for the show, and could bring in some other similar stars who haven't worked in TNA for a one-night deal. Senshi (known in WWE as Kaval and elsewhere as Low Ki) is one of the names that's been tossed around.

Jeremy Borash and Eric Young talked TNA on a TV show in Memphis prior to their "Basebrawl" show there.

SoCal Val talked about Slammiversary.

Jim Ross will be undergoing abdominal surgery soon. I wish him a speedy recovery, though I kind of wish he wouldn't have reminded me of the "Dr. Heiney" skit. Mr. McMahon has a unique sense of humor, that's for sure...

Mick Foley posted a blog concerning his departure from TNA and the factors leading to it. Certainly a very interesting read in which good points are made. I respect him for not crapping all over the company in his exit while still getting his points across. His offer to leave the company was quite magnanimous, and his point about TNA being around in the business is oft-overlooked. Having two strong companies where wrestlers can ply their trades and entertain us is always a plus. It can be done better, but even a so-so alternative is an alternative.

Andy from Tough Enough will be on the next edition of Raw. As of now, he hasn't been added to either brand's roster or FCW.

That's all for Sunday's news. More to come tomorrow. Thanks for reading!
