Superstars and Impact Wrestling thoughts- 6/9/11

Today on WWE.com's Superstars, Tyson Kidd continues his search for a manager as he takes on Yoshi Tatsu. Then, on Impact Wrestling, Hogan and Bischoff have full power again. How will this change things going into Slammiversary IX, where Sting has to defend his TNA Championship against Mr. Anderson? Read on for my thoughts on the shows as they happen.
It's crazy how few of the people in the opening video package ever appear on the show (except in replays).

JTG gets to be on 2 Internet shows this week! There you go international JTG fans!

Stanford continues to crack me up on commentary. I don't know exactly why.

A Brooklyn Brawler reference! Wow.

Well, at least they plugged NXT. Thankfully JTG has something going for his character now (wanting a title match). I still say he's in trouble if they're looking for people to cut after NXT. I could be wrong though.

I think Chris Masters could go to that U.S./Tag Team Title level if they decide to do something with him on Raw. I think he might need some re-introduction, though, as I don't remember the last time he appeared on Raw or Smackdown.

That match pretty much reinforced JTG's place on the roster (or lack thereof). That didn't look too promising for him.

At least they're promoting WWE All-Stars still with the Raw name.

If they build these 4 up, it'll mean more when Kharma returns and faces off with them. Right now it doesn't  look too good when Melina's having a competitive match with someone taken out in one move from Kharma.

Not a bad match. Nothing amazing, but I liked it. I wonder when anyone in this match will get a title shot.

Let's see, what name should we pull out of the hat to be Kidd's manager? Laughing Tony Atlas would be weirdly amusing.

Wow, Mark Henry on Superstars? This guy's in the World Title picture.

A Sexual Chocolate sign? Poor guy's never going to live that down.

Wow, Curtis' music's pretty bad.

Ok, this is kind of stupid. Is this part of the rib they did last week and they just decided to put it on the show? They mostly played it off well if it was just another joke.

I bet the Bellas get tired of doing everything synchronized.

Vickie's technically on Raw, but WWE's not going to put that much effort into this story. I'm surprised they got Estrada for it, since everyone else has already been in attendance at the Smackdown taping or the previous night's Raw taping.

Who would be a good choice to end up Tyson's manager when this is over? I guess Natalya could turn heel against AJ and Kaitlyn to go back to that role?

If Yoshi's really learning English from Jersey Shore and Facebook, that's hilarious and potentially troubling at the same time. At least it's not YouTube comments.

Maybe this can lead back into a feud with David Hart Smith at some point?

And we're done. Tune in next week for Tatsu/Kidd 5!

On to Impact Wrestling, which I'm still not used to calling that name.

I go from watching Z! True Long Island Story to Hulk Hogan starting Impact Wrestling. Ick.

Nothing's changed except the name indeed. I do like that Hogan's promoting the name change.

How long until Bischoff and Hogan renege on their promises?

No Sting facepaint for Anderson? That's a shame.

Or maybe, just maybe, Bischoff and Hogan aren't purely heels this week?

Sting's taking on Anderson on Sunday, but they're focusing more on Sting vs. Hogan and Bischoff. I guess Sting's face, they're heel (kept somewhat in check by the Network), and Anderson is a tweener? It's getting confusing.

Where's Madison Rayne in all of this? I think Tara as a face is somewhat new. They could at least have had them "put their issues aside" backstage. I know Tara's not with Madison anymore, but there wasn't a big break-up angle that turned her face. Contrast this with Miz and Alex Riley.

I still prefer spunky babyface Mickie from WWE to country Mickie. I guess there's the "tough chick" aspect that wasn't there in the WWE gimmick, though.

There's Madison! About time they went back to that story. Although this show should be more focused on the feuds going into the PPV. Why not just put Miss Tessmacher in and save Madison/Tara for after Slammiversary?

I'd have personally gone with Shelley and Storm in singles matches against the members of the British Invasion tonight. Especially given how little we see of that team on the show. They need to be re-established a bit if we're going to take them seriously as tag team contenders.

Joe and Crimson could turn some heads on Sunday if TNA does it right.

Christy just doesn't have good delivery as an announcer. Though I guess she has to do it quickly so the commentators can get to talking.

Mexican America should demand to be introduced in Spanish (Obviously them having their own announcer would be a "ripoff" of Alberto Del Rio).

The commentary is brutal in this match. Too much talking. Not to mention that they're basically saying that the Brits shouldn't be in the title match... that they want people to pay for. Then we've got Magnus saying things that could add some character to them (not being able to talk with Bischoff and Hogan), then Taz refuting him.

Put a tag team together one week, then tease them breaking up the next week. It's like TNA changes their minds before every show. Maybe they're ADD?

The outcome of the match would be a nice setup to include Mexican America in the tag match on Sunday, but that'd be even more thrown together.

Cool stories, bros. That time would be better spent promoting Sunday's PPV. Again, if you're not going to push that show, why should we pay for it? Not to mention you're advertising a show we're already watching. I like the campaign and all, but this is the go-home show.

The Terminator played Simon Says with women? Oh, I guess that's an Arnold reference.

They should have saved the Mexican America story for next week, unless they're going to put them in Sunday's match.

How bad is it that my first thought after Karen wasn't going to be there on Sunday was that she'd be there on Sunday?

Hell of a promo from Jarrett. Angle's was pretty solid, too. That's how you set up a PPV match.

I wonder what ODB's real eye color is. I'm a bit surprised they didn't put this one on for Sunday, but they already have 7 matches for then.

Bully Ray busting someone up to set up the Last Man Standing match would be pretty nice.

I don't care for Kendrick's character at all.

Bully Ray's, on the other hand, is awesome, especially heeling Christy Hemme. I wonder how many people Googled her Playboy after that mention.

Wow, really? I was expecting him to tear up an X-Division guy or "enhancement talent". Not that this won't be a fairly big match.

Cool that they're promoting Angle's Olympic pursuits.

The segment with Abyss, Kazarian, and Kendrick was everything wrong with TNA. It felt like a stoner horror movie, bad camerawork and all. An "Xtreme" Championship is an interesting idea, though I don't know how well it'd work with the X-Division guys.

ODB not getting entrance music because she's "not under contract" is a nice touch. I guess she just signed a waiver or something to be able to compete.

I can see why they didn't want to call it the TNA Fantasy game.

Not a bad angle-continuer. Though, again, it'd be better to use time to promote Sunday's Matt Morgan vs. Scott Steiner.

I think "comedy Eric" has about run its course.

Transformers 3 actually looks good, but I'm "twice bitten, thrice shy" after seeing the other 2.

An ad just ran for UFC 131 featuring Brock Lesnar. Whoops. Junior Dos Santos is a hilarious name. Not Dos Santos, Jr... Junior Dos Santos.

So I guess we're not getting anything added to what could be built as a clash of titans between Morgan and Steiner. On again, off again with this company. Why not put them in this match instead of Gunner and Eric (who as far as I know don't have a match this Sunday, and even if they do it shouldn't be as big of a deal as Morgan/Steiner). Then again, it is two fairly young guys getting a shot in the main event, and they have some issues.

Gunner just F5'd Sting and got a win on him!!?? That's massive! They'd be crazy not to follow up on that.

Another movie with humans interacting with talking animals? Ugh.

This stuff with Eric Young is awful. Sting should crack him with the title and knock him back serious.

Not too bad of an ending.

I wonder why they didn't do anything with Steiner or Morgan. A backstage interview, something taped in advance, SOMETHING to keep that feud in the spotlight other than noting that it's on the card.

Anyway, that's all for this show. I'll be back tomorrow for Smackdown. A news post will be up at some point after midnight. Thanks for reading!
