TNA Slammiversary thoughts- 6/12/11

Tonight, TNA celebrates being in business for 9 years with (what else?) a PPV. Tonight, Jeff Jarrett and Kurt Angle have their final battle for an Olympic gold medal and a future shot at the winner of the main event. Then, the man called Sting defends his World Championship against the cocky Mr. Anderson. What will TNA's main event picture look like after this show? Read on for my thoughts on the show as it happens.

Sounds like Roode will be ready for the next PPV.

The British Invasion need to be on TV more. These guys are good.

I really thought they were going to do a title switch and break-up there. Heck of an opener, though.

There's only one Scott Steiner on the mic, that's for sure.

Not a bad match at all. Served its purpose of making Morgan look like he's in Steiner's league.

Great Jarrett promo. His portrayal of his character is dead-on.

Kind of disappointed in the ending to the X-Division match. The match was going swimmingly until the friction between Kazarian and Kendrick. Hopefully a "true" X-Division guy gets the title back around the time of Destination X (or wins a big #1 Contenders' match and THEN goes over Abyss).

Great match between Crimson and Joe. Could have been better, but definitely in the right direction for these two. They should be looked at as future World Title contenders.

Angelina and Mickie were doing pretty well until the ending. This should have went longer. Nice post-match angle, but it still felt like something was missing.

Bully Ray's also a solid promo tonight. Hard to believe he used to have a stuttering gimmick.

This match represented the kind of stuff that really made me a big TNA fan in 2005/2006. I think the big elbow through the table should have been the ending (even if it was a draw), but the match itself was absolutely brutal. HERE's when you chant "that was awesome" and "holy sh-t".

Not so crazy about Anderson's promo.

Kind of figured the TNA Title match would close the show.

#$%@*&*!!! And they were doing so well, too. Bad finish to that match. Crap like that is what makes people hate TNA.

Then again, with that ending, it's a good thing it wasn't the last thing on the show.

Jarrett and Angle did what they do best. Other than the guitar spot, this was really good.

Despite a few blunders, this was a solid show. If they keep things going this way, they might get in people's good graces again.

That's all for Slammiversary IX. I'll be back for tomorrow's 3-hour Raw, and a news post will be up at some point after midnight.
