Raw thoughts- 6/6/11

The conspiracy is over. Tonight R-Truth can finally earn himself a match for the WWE Championship against John Cena. There's just one little caveat: he has to apologize for his actions. Will he be able to do it? Read on for my thoughts on the show as it happens.

Wow, that's umm... wow. This is what they go to after Tough Enough?

This is just crazy. Entertaining in a way, but an odd way.

Uh-oh.. an African-American bringing up the Confederacy.

Well that wasn't so bad.

I went from predicting Cena vs. Miz vs. R-Truth at the PPV to R-Truth/Miz vs. Cena/Riley tonight. Sometimes the gun gets jumped.

It would make sense for Cena to still not trust A-Ri completely.

Thankfully they realize Mr. McMahon should supersede the authority of the Raw GM.

Maybe Cole is the Raw GM; he just has some way to do the notification without anyone knowing about it (a special signal to someone in the back or something). Or, maybe, just maybe, it'll be Mick Foley at some point down the line (obviously they wouldn't acknowledge his TNA run).

I wonder where Andy goes from here as the winner of Tough Enough. Will he just be on Raw next week and they go from there or what?

R-Truth being champion and seceding? That'd be awesome.

Yes, they've already done New Nexus vs. Kozlov and Santino, but that was Superstars so I guess it doesn't count.

I don't know what you call the cape-like things the Bellas are wearing, but they're pretty cool for the newly heel duo.

It's going to take a while before I get used to Divas matches not being interrupted again. If WWE can build the division up while Kharma's out, it'll mean even more when she faces off with its members.

This seems a little fishy to me: last week they build up the Bellas as the top people to beat in the division. This week, they're beaten cleanly. Not that I expected them to build them up as super-heels for an entire heel or anything, but I at least figured they'd be "protected" for a while. It would mean more when they were defeated if they were built up longer. The idea would be to get people to keep tuning in to see when they'll finally counter their heel tactics and trap them or shut them up from insulting people and so on.

Infamous 2 looks pretty kickass, not going to lie.

I'm ok with Booker vs. Swagger tonight. I mean, they have him here, they might as well use him to elevate a younger star.

Punk's still doing some pretty good work. Perhaps because he knows he can get some time off in a month or so if he so chooses (I haven't seen anything confirming that he's re-signed to WWE).

I wonder where (if anywhere) this feud will go towards the PPV. Maybe the four members of the New Nexus can face Rey, Santino, Kozlov, and Chris Masters (It took me a while to find a face on Raw who wasn't already in a storyline or injured. Skip Sheffield would be a good surprise if he was cleared to return).

It's still weird with Cole and Lawler mostly co-existing at ringside.

Or maybe we get Mason Ryan vs. Rey Mysterio leading to Ryan vs. Punk? Just throwing things out there.

That was one of the better press conferences. Still ridiculous, and not really in a good way.

Riley can get a(nother) breakout face moment if he's on the same page with Cena tonight. Him pinning Miz in the tag match would be huge.

Wow, that sounds like they were pretty desperate for an idea for next week's Raw. I guess it's ok, but you'd think they'd have come up with something a little more... special sounding like Viewer's Choice or King of the Ring (save Old School Raw for later in the year and the Slammys for the final 3-hour Raw of the year).

I think they're missing someone to call Del Rio out on his BS.

Yeah, that doesn't look as good as it sounds on paper (Ricardo Rodriguez as Big Show). I'm glad they didn't have Big Show actually come out; he's supposed to be pretty badly injured.

Ok, this is kind of stupid.

I think they should have gotten FCW's Buck Dixon to play Big Show, or a dolt facsimile of him.

Nice video on Kofi.

Ryder's moving up the ranks. Now he actually gets a match on Raw. No ring entrance, but it's a start.

It'd be somewhat amusing if Ziggler and Vickie replied to tweets in-character, but some fans would be put off by it and assume they were actually jerks. It is rather weird that they'd reference Ziggler's Twitter, though he has some pretty heelish things on there.

Ziggler was pretty funny on commentary with his references, but something tells me that most of the viewing audience has no idea what he's talking about.

Riley vs. Miz? I'm game. WWE.com still has him on the Raw roster, for what that's worth. The whole campaign for the PPV (graphics and music included) is just plain bad, though.

Jack Swagger, the All-American American, should be really trying to get on Capitol Punishment.

Referencing the NBA finals is stupid. Especially when they can take ratings away from your show!

Well, that felt like somewhat of a waste until Bourne's involvement.

Orton should just go to the $&*@# papers already.

I love how Stone Cold doesn't even have a referee shirt.

Glad Miz didn't tap out to the STF.

Not bad. Not bad at all. Riley got a nice face rub, and it took a good deal to put down Miz. He can blame the referee for what went down, etc.

Ooh, nice twist to make an even more heelish ending.

Stone Cold as Raw GM next week's ok I suppose. The bigger picture's always what's important, so it needs to continue the build to Capitol Punishment.

At least Cena didn't get stunned.

Hopefully next week gets a nice boost in the ratings from Stone Cold as GM.

That's all for Raw. I thought the show was on the "good" side, though nothing great or spectacular in my opinion. I'll be back later tomorrow for NXT and later tonight with a news post.
