Hogan calls out Sting, Question on Jarrett, new Swagger Q&A, ex-TNA stars visit FCW, Ring Ka King press, Beefcake talks Hogan-TNA and more, Storm welcomes son, Z! TLIS #49, Godfather/Papa Shango and Tully Branchard interviews, and the Impact Wrestling rating

Hulk Hogan put out a video calling out Sting alongside some other older wrestlers. Not really sure what to make of that, other than Hogan possibly being drunk.

Update: Hogan tweeted that he wasn't drunk, and that the video was in-character. Didn't he say that about his opinions on TNA's talent as main eventers, too? Not to mention that his character was last seen helping Sting clear the ring of Immortal. I guess his opinion has changed in the months since he's been on-screen. Or, you know, this has nothing to do with storylines at all and he's off his rocker. We'll see.

PWInsider.com had some new Friday questions to examine:
1. Obviously the press release wasn't kayfabe. I didn't even think of that! I guess it could be as they said, but I don't really remember his character direction as far as a part-owner of the company. Theoretically if he still held that kind of power, he could un-fire himself? Or maybe he was fired by TNA, but hired by the company they're working with to do Ring Ka King? There probably COULD be an explanation if they tried hard enough.

There really isn't anything to add to the other questions, except that I don't think I can/should legally recommend getting a region-free Blu-Ray player. I could be wrong, though. Anyway, after the break I move on to the rest of the day's news, starting with Jack Swagger's second topless Q&A session.
Here's Swagger's latest non-PG video venture. That was ok, but I think his wife took away from it and some of it felt forced. Maybe he should keep it short and sweet next time?

Jesse Neal and the former Toxxin were visiting at a recent FCW event. Let the speculation begin/continue!

Here's a link to a number of press stories and videos on TNA's Ring Ka King project, which I don't anticipate airing in the States.

Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake talked about Hulk Hogan's feelings on TNA and a number of other topics. I think Hogan's mistaken about TNA's intentions. They just don't want to use his outdated and ill-fitting ideas. There's nothing wrong with not wanting to go head-to-head with a show that does a 3.0 when you can get a consistently better rating on Thursdays without that competition. I do agree about the "assembly line" comments though. We need more differentiation, individuality, and creativity with performers these days. It's working for Ryder, Rhodes, R-Truth and Brodus Clay among others. But no, we have to be "realistic" now so a lot of people who get pushed look and wrestle fairly similarly instead of being colorful performers like we saw in years past (that made a lot of money).

James Storm's son was born at 4:42 a.m. on 1/20. This type of thing is another area I'll cut off coverage of because it doesn't involve wrestling. Cuts have to be made somewhere for me to have time to type everything up. Congratulations nonetheless.

Zack Ryder posted episode 49 of Z! True Long Island Story. Fun stuff as it usually is. Clever guy with a hopefully bright future. He's put a lot of work into his character and promoting WWE, and he should be rewarded for that. Dolph Ziggler has also been solid lately. But didn't Zack and Primo feud on Superstars?

The former Godfather gave a brief interview on what he's up to these days, including appearing as the Papa Shango character. Good little read. Godfather was one of my favorite gimmicks when I was younger, though promoting a pimp isn't exactly family-friendly of them.

Tully Blanchard of the Four Horsemen talked about the upcoming induction, Horsemen line-ups and more. Good little read.

Finally, Thursday's Impact Wrestling pulled in a 1.19. Not bad at all. They're doing some good building, and promoting a big match ahead of time means more people are likely to tune in and see it.

That's all for Friday's news. More to come later. Thanks for reading!
