Query on PG with Snooki, new signings work FCW, TNA exec misses PPV, more on TNA's international endeavors, Questions on Lesnar or Y2J vs. Punk, Taker at Mania, Cena going heel, the Benoit movie, and TNA overtaking WWE, Velvet Sky crashing Genesis, and a Bobby Roode interview

Today's news starts with a query:
1. While Snooki comes from a very non-PG show, her appearances with WWE were kept pretty tame. It is pretty interesting that they'd use someone from that environment on their product, but it was mainly done for publicity. I wouldn't expect any deviation from their current rating any time soon, especially with Linda McMahon running for Senate again this year. The sooner that's over, the better.

At a FCW house show earlier in the week, Danielle Moinet made her debut as a ring announcer. The former Britani Knight wrestled in a 6-Diva battle royal under her given first name, Saraya. That's almost certainly a placeholder until they come up with a trademarked ring name for her. No word on if they'll change Moinet's name and if so what to.

TNA's Bob Ryder was unable to attend Genesis and the tapings that will follow due to ongoing health concerns. Very sad to hear. Hopefully he gets well soon.

There's reportedly a lot of excitement in TNA about the UK Impact Wrestling tapings and the Ring Ka King project, with the feeling that the latter in particular could open a lot of doors for the company internationally.

After the break, I go into the rest of the day's news, starting with PWInsider.com's questions. First up, what would work better: Punk vs. Jericho or Punk vs. Lesnar?

1. That's rather petty of Lesnar if true. He'd be making a ton of money regardless, and it's apparently very doubtful that he'd ever step foot in the ring again either way. So much for Lesnar-Taker I guess. I think Jericho and Punk would put on a much better match given their respective styles and they seem like they'd be a better fit in a feud.

2. The current plan is stated to be him facing Triple H with Shawn Michaels as the referee. I'm hoping that wraps things up for the former DX since neither one's retired and one's got a pretty important backstage job.

3. Yep. No new ground to cover here.

4. Yeah, I think I'd have to steer clear of that one as well. I think there's going to be a lot of controversy when that one hits. If it was up to me to cast someone, I'd consult with people who would know better than I would about his history and the like and go with who could most convincingly portray him. It'd be very erie and disturbing going through what made him do what he did, for sure.

5. They have improved lately in a number of critical areas that have been holding them back. I agree that they have the tools necessary to eventually grow into a serious contender for WWE. It's just going to take time and consistently giving people what they want (and what WWE isn't giving them). It's certainly possible that some day down the line they can take WWE's place at the top of the food chain, but right now I think they need to be more concerned with growing their fanbase around the world. There's no reason, in my eyes, for them to go after WWE at present. It kind of makes them like Bush league to do silly things like putting up TNA billboards near WWE HQ like they did when promoting the Impact Wrestling name change. Worry about getting your talents over and getting eyeballs on your TV show, etc.. Talk of them overtaking WWE is quite premature right now, but I wouldn't count them out as easily as has been done in the past. Oh, and definitely don't branch out into a films division any time soon.

Here's footage of Velvet Sky arriving ahead of Genesis. The sooner I forget about her angle at the show, the better.

Finally, Bobby Roode talked on a number of topics ahead of Genesis. He's a hard worker and has the right idea about his character and what would be good for TNA going forward. I think they'll be able to elevate the overlooked performers of the past into draws if they continue the paths they're going on in finally focusing on wrestlers who can tell great stories for the audience of today (instead of the audience of yesteryear).

That's all for Sunday's news. More to come tomorrow. Thanks for reading!
