Query on Sin Cara, 12/30 house show notes, could Brock Lesnar return to WWE?, Questions on Maryse-TNA, Slammys, changing Cena, Morrison/Melina, and Layla, MVP interview, Z! TLIS #46, Tara talks, GM Belding?, and Cena featured on CNN

As for a query someone sent to the blog:
1. Sin Cara is still out injured after something went wrong with his knee at Survivor Series. It's going to be a good number of months before we see him again, but he's still under contract with WWE and I don't see that changing any time soon.

This first note might be something of a spoiler:
R-Truth defeated David Otunga at the 12/30 Raw house show, perhaps confirming a face turn? I think it could work; he's absurdly entertaining. Also on the show, FCW Champion Leo Kruger teamed with Alex Riley and Mason Ryan to beat JTG, Curt Hawkins, and Tyler Reks. There's no guarantee that he'll end up on the main roster; WWE's just evaluating him. Ditto for the others working house shows and dark matches lately.

As for a Smackdown house show note, which could also indicate a direction for a future superstar:
Seth Rollins beat Tyson Kidd again.

After announcing his retirement from UFC following a first-round loss, Brock Lesnar is the subject of a lot f speculation in regards to a potential return to wrestling. UFC President Dana White has stated that he's still under contract with the company, and would need permission to perform elsewhere. This could turn out to be a pretty interesting situation.

Update: Jim Ross commented on the situation, really downplaying the possibility.

Update: Chris Jericho also tweeted about it. Oh, you...

Update: Apparently it MIGHT be a possibility, depending on how Lesnar's contract is. Depending on what kind of shape he's in, that could be interesting.

After the break, I go into the rest of the day's news, beginning with a look at PWInsider.com's questions.

1. She's explicitly stated that she's not going to TNA. I think it's pretty safe to say that that one's not going to happen.

2. The only thing to really add here is that they did a "Top 25 matches of the year" feature on WWE.com to close out 2011. Everything the company does or doesn't put on TV is in accordance with what they think will best move the stories along and draw ratings, etc., and presumably they didn't want to put our minds on Taker/HHH at that time.

3. I honestly don't remember a character that's gotten such a split reaction that's actually been acknowledged and worked into storylines. At this point, Cena's been such a big babyface for so long it would take something really big and character-changing for him to go heel. He's made it clear that the boos don't bother him; he's even encouraged them in the past. I don't really see how a more aggressive Cena would be similar to Cena attacking a top babyface, unless he becomes more of an anti-hero (which they already kind of have in Punk and Orton). Austin was an anti-hero that no one could trust (which got him fan support); Cena's more of a do-gooder, fight the good fight, defend the fans kind of guy. I could be missing the point here, but it doesn't seem like that would work.

4. It certainly seems like there's at least a good chance for that to happen if Morrison signs. I don't really know what their relationship status is (nor is it really my business), but that would likely have the biggest bearing on it.

5. It seems like it's approaching. She's been more and more visible/in the news lately.

Former WWE star MVP talked about WWE and wrestling in Japan. Pretty good read. I'd like to see him back in the States some day.

Zack Ryder posted episode #46 of his YouTube show. Great moments with Eve, Foley, Scott Stanford and the Fink. I wish more people had this level of character. Remember when this guy was one of the Major Brothers?

Tara talked ahead of a TNA house show. I like that she put over the up-and-comers and am very glad that she's still passionate about the business. I think she can still bring a good amount to the table.

Dennis Haskins is campaigning to be the GM of Raw. That would be pretty interesting. Wrestling's supposed to be fun after all.

Finally, John Cena was featured on Anderson Cooper's 2011 recap, as they showed his announcement of the death of Osama Bin Laden.

That's all for 2011's news. More to come in the year ahead (starting tomorrow night). Thanks for reading!
