Update on Ryder's "condition", WWE advertises 1000th episode of Raw, Tyson in the HoF, Questions on Ring Ka King, Rosa Mendes, lucha legends in the Hall, and WWE's story loopholes, why Sheamus won the Rumble, top chain to stop showing WWE PPVs, Booker T. book details, Road Dogg to appear at FCW, Details on WWE YouTube shows, WWE drops PPV name, Foley interview, another Rock Raw appearance and what happened after Raw

After being attacked once more at the Royal Rumble, Zack Ryder was taken to the hospital in a continuation of his injury storyline. On the one hand, he IS being featured in a prominent storyline. It's just, you know, not one a lot of people are happy about.

WWE is beginning the pre-sale for the 1000th episode of Raw on 7/23. Wow. That's a HUGE milestone. I wonder if The Undertaker will compete then to bring the whole thing full-circle?

TMZ covered Mike Tyson's induction into the WWE Hall of Fame. Very natural choice. He was involved in a big moment for the business.

Update: So did ESPN.

For PWInsider.com's questions on Monday, my take is as follows:
1. It makes you wonder if that has anything to do with The Great Khali's apparent return, though it must be said that there was always the expectation that he'd return at some point.

2. I think she plays her role well and that's all I particularly care about. I do think her presence adds to the unit, because otherwise they're just a tag team and we all know how long those last in the company. Plus it presumably keeps her from being a wrestler.

After the break, I go into the rest of the day's questions and news, starting with whether we'll see Road Warrior Animal involved in Punk vs. Laurinaitis.

3. I get the feeling that if he is used, it will be out of makeup to sell how personal the angle would be. We've had Brian Christopher (Lawler) and Goldust already in family feuds in the not-too-distant past so it's not out of the question.

4. I think some of the reason Mascaras is going in is because of his nephew (Alberto Del Rio), so while those men could go in, I don't think they're locks. The Hall's at least in part a marketing tool.

5. I guess they might could use some creative license with that one, given that the heel Laurinaitis wouldn't give Ryder that break. I do think they totally goofed on that explanation, since it had never stopped someone from cashing in before. However, the HHH/Laurinaitis story isn't a contradiction. HHH was only removed from running the day-to-day of Raw. The Board kept him as COO, and barred him from firing Laurinaitis. This was clearly explained, but when you have a pre-conceived agenda, you can ignore the facts. I just wish they'd be straight-forward that they're printing a one-sided story.

Sheamus was chosen to win the Royal Rumble partially to throw a curve ball to the fans who expected Jericho to win. They care way too much about being unpredictable and doing new things lately. I'm not going to start posting about tennis tomorrow just because people expect me to post about wrestling. The company is also high on how much he's grown as a performer in his time in the company, and how he carries himself. Can't say I disagree with their assessment.

WWE has increased the fee for restaurants to show PPVs from $200 to $700, leading Buffalo Wild Wings as a whole to stop showing them. I hope that pays off for them in terms of people watching the shows at home. Otherwise they just blew money. Again.

Booker T's autobiography was profiled here. Sounds like a good read.

Road Dogg will appear at an FCW live event on 2/3 in the usual pre-show meet and greet session.

Appearing on WWE's YouTube channel in February will be:
Zack Ryder's show, which will apparently be re-named for some reason.
WWE Inbox (talents responding to fan questions)
Are You Serious? (no details yet)
WWE Presents (footage from their archives)
WWE Outside The Ring (likely fairly out-of-character stuff that doesn't promote storylines)
Superstar Toyz (Yes, "Toyz". Performers will show off some of their collectibles or whatever)
Backstage Fallout (what happens after matches and the like)
Santino's Foreign Exchange (unsurprisingly, comedy with Santino. Could be fun and successful.)
and Download (no details yet).

It's a nice mix of things I do and don't care to see.

WWE has dropped Bragging Rights from their 2012 line-up. They'll still run a PPV on that date (6/17), but the theme won't be that. Given how little Raw vs. Smackdown means now, that makes sense. Maybe King of the Ring should come back then?

Mick Foley gave an interview on the Royal Rumble and his future. At least he knows he's not at big match level any more. Whatever he (or any part-timer) does should be for the improvement of the current roster and their careers.

The Rock is being advertised for the 3/5 Raw, so it looks like we'll get a good deal of him before WrestleMania.

Finally, after Raw, John Cena beat Kane via DQ when Kane used a chair. After a chokeslam, he returned to the ring to take an Attitude Adjustment to end the taping on a "babyface triumphant" note.

That's all for Monday's news. More to come tomorrow. Thanks for reading!
