A critical look at WWE's positioning, TNA attendance notes, favorite Mania moments, WWE charity, Interviews with Sting/Hall/DiBiase, Sr., the "rules" of wrestling, Lesnar gets mainstream press, why Bully Ray is an effective heel, Updates on Mania's top stars and Jesse Sorensen, and Questions on WWE's inability to push new stars, Abyss, Kaitlyn vs. AJ, and Molly Holly

PWInsider.com has a very good critical look at WWE's reliance on part-time stars. It took years for them to get themselves into this mess, and I think it's going to take a pretty good time for them to get out of it. How are they going to build the next Undertaker, Rock, Lesnar, HHH, etc. if they keep focusing on the stars of yesteryear?

TNA was said to be very happy with their Chicago Impact taping. Ticket sales for upcoming tapings have been good so far, which is something of a (pleasant) surprise.

There's talk of holding Bound For Glory in Chicago. Wherever will get them the best gate, etc. is where they should go.

The Baltimore Sun's Arda Ocal interviewed a number of WWE personalities about WrestleMania moments. Good read and good memories. I cracked up at Grisham's answer. As for Shawn Michaels putting over Kurt Angle, how refreshing is it that the already-established guy put over the up-and-comer? That's not as common in 2013. The Iron Sheik was as colorful as always.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.
Natalya and Alicia Fox helped raise awareness and treatment of malaria.

Sting talked about his decision to stay with TNA and more.

Scott Hall talked to DDP about his progress.

Here's a look at the unofficial "rules" of professional wrestling, such as who wins and who loses. A lot of "smarter", more seasoned fans complain that wrestling follows these rules, but a solid case can be made for a good deal of them as storytelling techniques.

TMZ caught up with the elder Ted DiBiase, who has stated that he no longer keeps in touch with Virgil. There are a bunch of jokes I could make about Virgil's situation, but really it's kind of sad at this point.

Brock Lesnar is on the cover of the April edition of Muscle & Fitness, which is pretty cool. WWE's got to love that publicity.

An Impact Wrestling fan tried to attack Bully Ray. That should be the goal of heels.

C.M. Punk was indeed hurt on Monday, but is expected to continue wrestling. As one of the few full-timers presented as a big deal at Mania, they really don't want him hurt right now.

The Undertaker is set to appear at the 3/25 Raw. At least they're getting the most out of him for his brief yearly stay in WWE.

The most recent Impact drew 1.41 million viewers, surprisingly down from last week. Lockdown was pretty hot, so I expected higher numbers.

Jesse Sorensen talked about his status in TNA. I'm glad there's no heat between him and Ion and wish him the best. That botched moonsault was a VERY scary situation.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. Of course, most people aren't aware of those secondary shows because WWE doesn't really push them. WWE has a select group of guys they push as important and everyone else is left fighting for the scraps. A lot of guys are lucky to get TV time at all. I see three reasons here: 1. WWE's lack of confidence in using anyone they're not already familiar with (thus relying on Cena, Rock, Lesnar, HHH, Taker, Kane, Big Show, and Henry as major players for years at a time). 2. The end of the brand split (instead of "having" to use a certain group of somewhat untested stars, they can continue to use the same guys on both Raw and Smackdown (and Main Event)). Back in the days of the brand split, they had to be careful with who they put on which show because it was rare and special that there were crossovers. As a result, they couldn't run through angles and big matches as quickly. For those who don't remember, it was a really big deal when we get John Cena vs. Batista because they had been kept apart for so long and allowed to develop separately into big stars. That doesn't happen today. 3. The fickleness of higher-ups (Vince). The top angles get rewritten so many times that they don't have as much time or energy to devote to the lower-card.

2. I think they'll get about as much of Joseph as they can before they bring Abyss back, though in kayfabe they are two completely different characters (Abyss has interfered on Joseph's behalf before). They could have Joseph become the "second" Abyss, but in kayfabe he's the first Abyss' brother.

3. As for having a goofy gimmick, that was really WWF's "thing" back then. But yeah, he wasn't an amazing worker and that hurt him at a time when WWF was only going to keep a few "Alliance" guys around.

4. WWE focusing on a non-celebrity Divas match at WrestleMania? Surely you jest. I like the idea as well (though I'd personally save it for down the line).

5. My face when another Molly Holly question:
I really hope this is some kind of rib or something.

More wrestling tomorrow.
