Super Bowl champs to get WWE belt, NXT preview, more schools for Khali, ROH improves its look, WM32 contest, former ROH tag champ signs full-time deal, ECW legend works as ROH agent, another ROH-NJPW match official for anniversary show, top NJPW name to work more ROH shows, Bryan retirement and its fallout, CHIKARA owner working at NXT, WWE encouraging costumes, what happened after Raw, and Questions on using an injured Rollins, WWE vs. Punk's fight, why the end of the year is slow for WWE, an off-season, and NXT being at Raw's level

WWE Champion Triple H congratulated the Denver Broncos on winning the Super Bowl. That's a pretty sweet belt, and it's smart for WWE to play off the big event.

On the next edition of NXT:
- NXT Women's Championship: Bayley vs. Carmella
- Baron Corbin vs. Johnny Gargano
- Hype Bros in action
- Cameron vs. Alexa Bliss
- Elias Samson vs. Jessy Sorensen

Normally I'm pretty optimistic about NXT, but I'm not so sure about this week. Carmella, Cameron, and Alexa are still pretty rough as wrestlers. Elias is on the green side himself.

Everything else from yesterday is after the break.
The Great Khali is opening five wrestling schools in Punjab, India. He's a really huge deal over there.

ROH notably improved their stage setup at the most recent TV tapings, with a bigger screen at the entrance ramp and better/more lighting. That's been needed for a while. It will be interesting to see the growth of ROH's profile in the Sinclair family as things move forward.

WWE is doing a contest with Cricket Wireless to send a fan to Wrestlemania.

Christopher Daniels has signed a full-time deal with ROH. He's a valued veteran there.

Jerry Lynn worked as an agent at the most recent TV tapings. God, I hope that means the matches will be better. I'm not holding my breath, though.

Moose vs. NJPW's Kazuchika Okada is official for ROH's 14th anniversary PPV.

NJPW regular Kenny Omega is set to work ROH on a semi-regular basis in 2016. He's a top name there, so this is a good move. With AJ and Nakamura gone and Gallows/Anderson set to leave soon, ROH wants to get other NJPW names working for them when they can.

Daniel Bryan announced his retirement from wrestling on Twitter for medical reasons. I can't say I'm surprised, but I am saddened. There are few wrestlers who have that level of heart and passion. Bryan is an all-around great guy, and a true inspiration for the business. He will be heavily missed in the world of wrestling.

Update: The mood backstage at Raw was pretty sad, as Bryan's announcement caught everyone off-guard.

Update: PWInsider remembered Bryan's career, with a really great look back. I hope Bryan has an amazing next chapter of his life. To say he gave a lot to the business is an understatement. He was a really solid wrestler, and at times a really enjoyable entertainer as well.

Update: Here's a collection of reactions to Bryan's career ending. Needless to say, Bryan was held in really high regards by a lot of people. I'm so glad WWE is recruiting more people in his mold after so many years of mediocre hired based on looks/size.

Update: Vince McMahon and Triple H shared their thoughts on Bryan retiring. God that's really special. This whole thing has been really touching.

Update: After Raw, the roster came to the stage and gave Bryan an ovation. Bryan celebrated with fans in the front row, shaking all their hands. Bryan hugged Vince McMahon as he made his way backstage.

Mike Quackenbush, owner of independent promotion CHIKARA and long-time trainer, is working as a guest coach at the WWEPC. I wouldn't rule out this leading to some kind of working arrangement between NXT and CHIKARA, but right now it's just him passing some tips onto the NXT names.

At Raw, WWE encouraged fans to dress up as their favorite performers. That's kind of an about-face after two big instances of moving fans in costume for being distracting from the in-ring product. It will be interesting to see if this is a permanent change in policy and how it affects things going forward.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. Rollins might not be cleared to travel regularly for any kind of role. Even if that weren't the case, they shouldn't put him out there in a way that might overshadow the people who are actually there to wrestle. I'd rather he keep rehabbing his injury so he can get back to the ring on-schedule.

2. That would REALLY be petty and immature. In other words, don't rule it out.

Nothing to add to 3.

4. Because it's usually a slow time of the year anyway, and it gives employees some time to recharge their batteries/be with their families. Blaming Vince's lack of innovation is really silly.

5.a. As big as NXT is right now, it's not even close to the level of Raw. I think it's possible for it to get bigger in the years to come, but I don't really see it hitting the level of the main roster, since a lot of money-making acts for NXT get picked up for the main shows (which is pretty much the point of NXT). Right now NXT is a one-hour Network show just beginning to tour outside Florida. It's doing really well, but it's not five hours a week on TV with two tours going around the country every week. Not to mention all the TV deals around the globe Raw and Smackdown have compared to NXT.

5.b. I don't see WWE doing any kind of off-season in the sense of not using any of their main performers for several months. Their top revenue-earners are Raw and Smackdown TV rights. NBCU pays for WWE content, not NXT content. It'd be like if all the judges of The Voice were suddenly replaced with some indie musicians for a few episodes every season.

More wrestling tomorrow.
