Main Event Reax - 8/5/17, WWE travel problems, Lawler appearance, complete run of ECW brand on the Network, Gail's post-wrestling future, Interview with Van Ness, big GFW social media push, wrestling segment on Late Show, new Summerslam title match, DiBiase documentary to theaters, big Raw main event, Smackdown live event notes, and Questions on a weekly MYC series, Alexa Quinn, ROH names teaming in NXT, Nakamura vs. Cena, and long wrestling matches

-- Main Event:
- Dorado/Metalik vs. Kendrick/Gulak:
Good to see Metalik back in the mix.

I like the "cruiserweight who doesn't want to fly around" gimmick. Sometimes the best thing you can be is the opposite of everyone else, like an anti-hardcore gimmick in an extreme promotion or a "character" in a more serious promotion.

Fine match so far. I love Gran's rope antics.

Gran is like 95% flips. I'm OK with there being some workers like that.

I like the teamwork from the heels.

Teaming the luchadores is working well enough.

I'm liking this. There's a clear strategy from both sides to do what they're best at.

Good enough ending.

- Emma vs. Mickie:
I'm so glad we're actually seeing these two in action again.

I like the early chess game here.

Ha. The old fake handshake spot.

Both women are good. We just don't get to see them often enough.

This is pretty solid!

That was a very flat ending. It just came out of nowhere. A shame, too, because I wanted to see more between them. I suspect we're in for another round, though, which is good.

Seth Rollins missed Raw's Friday live event due to a long travel day. I wonder how WWE will handle that, since he was advertised for the event.

- There were also travel issues with WWE names getting to Smackdown, as per Viktor and Xavier Woods. Sounds like a rough weekend all around.

- Everyone did end up making the Smackdown show.

Jerry Lawler discussed wrestling topics on Svengoolie this weekend. I'm glad he's able to branch out from WWE commentary.

All ECW brand episodes have now been uploaded to WWE Network. It was a memorable show, going as it did through different visions of what it should be. I'd like to see a Rise and Fall of WWE ECW DVD, but I don't think there'd be a big audience for it. I don't think WWE thinks too highly of the brand.

Gail Kim is now a producer in GFW. I see why they want to keep her around given her years of service there.

Laurel Van Ness talked in Vancouver. She's stood out in her GFW appearances.

GFW is pushing to get a billion YouTube views and a million subscribers to their channel. I'm under the impression their digital ventures are doing much better under the Anthem era.

A wrestling-centric promo was on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert. American TV is insane sometimes.

New Day vs. Usos for the Smackdown Tag Team Championship is official for Summerslam. I wonder where things go from there. Smackdown's tag team division has taken some hits lately.

A Ted DiBiase documentary will be seeing a limited theatrical release. I'm glad father and son ahve found fulfillment outside the wrestling business.

Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman will compete in a Last Man Standing match on Raw. That's absolutely huge. Should be one heck of a big clash.

Braxton Sutter and Allie were able to make GFW's Saturday live event after missing the previous night. They continued their troubles from TV.

James Ellsworth was not at Smackdown's live events this weekend, so it looks like his suspension will officially last until Tuesday.

Kevin Owens saved Sami Zayn from a beatdown by Jinder Mahal and the Singhs to conclude a live event in Montreal. That was just a special moment for the hometown crowd, I imagine, although Owens turning face would be interesting and would give Jinder, Rusev, and Corbin new opponents.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. As was said, it doesn't look like that's in the budget right now. I hope they still pick up some talented female athletes, but it's time to take a look at the amount of money being spent on Network-exclusive properties and the huge amount of talent coming in.

2. Other than having her appearance play off Quinn, it doesn't look like it. She's well cast as it is. I don't see any need to change her character.

3. It's got to be happening at some point. reDRagon vs. the Authors of Pain would be SICK. An ROH stable is an interesting idea. Dijak and Rush would add a pretty interesting dimension to it, since they stand out from O'Reilly, Fish, and Cole. I hope Crazzy Steve gets a nice spotlight at some point, too.

4. Honestly, I think it was a case of Cena not being used to bumping for that move. His instincts kicked in and ended up costing him. Thank goodness he's OK physically and Nakamura's OK politically.

5. Got to be Ohno's match unless there was something crazy going on in the territory days I don't know about. Although there was the time Curtis Axel was never eliminated in that one Royal Rumble, so that would seem to beat even Ohno's feat.

More wrestling tomorrow.
