Vince upset at Nakamura, HoFer takes shot at Vince Jr., long night at Summerslam, GFW-Crash updates, NJPW injury, WWE legend planned for previous Raw, why Hardys weren't on recent Raw, WCW name has surgery, GFW press, Interviews with Lashley/Brandi/Bloom/Lynch, WWE Network coming to China, Nikki back on WWE TV soon, Slater school opens, actor at Smackdown, big AAA event in Japan, GLOW gets second season, ROH name working CMLL dates, WWE press for MMA name, indie exec gets NXT tryout, NXT live event notes, and Questions on WWE trademarking Bullet Club, insider training, Dixie on WWE TV, veterans on the road for WWE, and Bully using that name in ROH

Vince McMahon was reportedly very upset at the John Cena/Shinsuke Nakamura spot on Smackdown where Cena landed right on his head. It was definitely a frightening moment, but I think it was probably a heat of the moment reaction to an accident in the ring between two people who had never wrestled before. I hope Shinsuke doesn't get the label of being unsafe.

- "Superstar" Billy Graham contrasted Vince with his father. The current Vince definitely has a tendency to fly off the handle.

Summerslam will have a two hour Kickoff show, and the show itself will likely go past four hours. That's an endurance test for even the most diehard fans. I don't think having a lot of content is the answer to getting Network subscriptions up. Make less content mean more!

More GFW talent will be working The Crash soon, as that promotion expands to other cities in Mexico, and eventually the U.S. I hope that means good things for both sides.

Alberto El Patron is reportedly no longer working The Crash. I wouldn't assume it's because of the on-screen feud with LAX or anything, as he could easily "show up and ruin Konnan's promotion" if they booked him. I hope Alberto's career gets back on track and he leaves behind a legacy as a great worker instead of for his outside-the-ring antics.

Hiroshi Tanahashi has suffered a torn right biceps. He won't be undergoing surgery, as that would mean missing six months in the ring. I really question that mentality.

Bruno Sammartino was supposed to be at Raw in Pittsburgh a few weeks back, but didn't attend after suffering a bad fall that necessitated going to the emergency room. I hope he's able to attend another big WWE show in the market at some point.

The Hardys didn't work WWE's shows in Canada due to concerns over whether Jeff would be cleared to be in the country with his criminal record. It's expected things will be cleared up for the next time WWE goes through Canada. The planned Hardys/Revival feud has taken a backseat due to that issue and Scott Dawson's injury. I expect we'll still see the Hardys at Summerslam in some capacity, even if it's just a promo.

WCW alum Lodi underwent neck surgery. I hope that brings him relief.

Eli Drake appeared on Hidden Remote. GFW is getting more publicity in the Anthem era, which is good.

GFW has passed 990 million YouTube views. They're obviously gunning for a billion views.

GFW is now selling fidget spinners. I love it.

GFW is putting together a line of T-shirts with Future Legend Athletics. Glad they're getting a partnership like that.

Lashley promoted Destination X and more:
- Trump was confused as hell about what to call Lashley, etc.

- Lashley has one hell of a schedule. That's an incredible work ethic.

- Lashley vs. Sydal should be a lot of fun because of their contrasts.

- Moose is a great prospect.

- I selfishly hope Lashley stays in wrestling, but I wouldn't blame him for doing anything else.

WWE Network will launch in China before Summerslam. That's a VERY big move for them, and will give them a boost they really need in subscription numbers.

Nikki Bella will be front row at Summerslam, so this could be the start of her returning to the ring.

Heath Slater has officially opened a wrestling school in Georgia. Teddy Long, Ron Simmons, Mr. Hughes, & Jazz are all trainers there. I hope that's a good endeavor for all involved.

Kal Penn was at Smackdown. He's friends with Mojo Rawley. It's a shame the Hype Bros angle has stalled. It's clear something was brewing there.

AAA's Lucha Libre World Cup will be in Japan this year. LU is also featured in the advertising. That's definitely a big move that will get people talking. I'm curious how they'll do there.

Brandi Rhodes talked GFW, ROH, and more:
- It would have been very tough for Brandi to break through in WWE. There are a LOT of women going for spots there.

- Brandi's going to have a tough time showing she can be more than "Cody's wife." She's going to have to put some real work in to prove she belongs on her own merit.

- I wouldn't have blamed her for taking that WWE paycheck to be a ring announcer!

- I do like her getting endeavors outside of wrestling. That's valuable.

- I applaud her for wanting to be her own woman.

- There's been talk of a WOH Championship, but that's been going on for a LONG time with nothing to show for it. We'll see.

- Nothing wrong with starting off as a freelance competitor to prove you belong.

- It's going to be tough to try to have it both ways - playing off the Rhodes name but not wanting to be seen as using them to get over.

- Sounds like Cody and Brandi coming in was a Gaburick move that didn't fit in with the Jarrett regime's approach to contracts.

- It's really tough to get over the initial perception of being a ring announcer vs. being a wrestler, etc. When someone's decided what they want for you to do, you've got to actively convince them to change their minds.

Netflix's GLOW has been picked up for a second season. I'm glad the show has been a success. I hope it leads to more people watching WWE, etc.

More matches have been added to War of the Worlds UK:
- August 19: Silas Young vs. Mark Haskins
- August 20: Kenny King vs. Josh Bodom
- August 20: Hiromu Takahashi vs. Mark Haskins
-- A LOT of crossover on those shows. That's pretty cool.

Kenny King will work CMLL's Grand Prix tournament on September 1, and additionally work their shows on the following two days. Glad to see the Mexican promotion making more use of ROH names.

Matt Bloom talked about his road to his current NXT position and more:
- Bloom has definitely had a lot of varied experience in wrestling with all the different gimmicks and roles.

- Changing from DeMott to Bloom has been a big plus. DeMott's philosophies are outdated for a publicly traded company, to say the least.

- Bloom sounds like a class act, which is good.

Becky Lynch promoted Summerslam. I'm ready to see the Cyborg thing settled one way or another after all the teases.

WWE somewhat surprisingly jumped on the "Jon Jones could be at Summerslam" hype train. I guess they're happy to have people talking about the big PPV!

WWNLive executive Gabe Sapolsky is working in NXT in some backstage capacity, at least on a tryout basis. Clearly Triple H and company like the relationship they've had with his promotions thus far. I hope he's able to help talent reach their full potential, although of course if they don't fit the role WWE Creative wants of them, their sheer level of talent won't mean much.

At an NXT live event in Florida:
- Brennan Williams teamed with Uriel Ealy in a loss to the Street Profits. I assume Gabriel's hurt or something, as it's odd to have one Ealy in action without the other.

- Recent NXT signee Jessie Eleban had a talk show. They might be seeing her as a manager type.

- Kairi Sane, Aliyah, & Dakota Kai beat Shayna Baszler, Billie Kay, & Peyton Royce. Shanya isn't under WWE contract, but it looks like they're considering changing that.

Roderick Strong teamed with Johnny Gargano to beat Riddick Moss & Tino Sabbatelli in an NXT live event in California. I wouldn't assume WWE plans to pair them regularly as a team. It was probably just a way to give them each a match while also having Riddick & Tino get more work as a team.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. WWE was thinking of making a Balor Club faction, but nothing came of it. So, we just got "The Club," which doesn't really sound intimidating at all.

2. Only if there was inside knowledge that the earnings release was going to be bad news and executives sold a bunch of things before their investments lost value. It doesn't look like that's what happened here, as they had a pretty good earnings release.

3. It's possible, but she doesn't have the same name value as Bischoff. Plus, her company's still in business. I don't think they'll go that route.

4. WWE tends to inform those talents in advance when they're needed for an angle. We might have already seen the last of Kane in the ring, Mark Henry's probably headed into working backstage soon, and Big Show plans to retire in early 2018. WWE has worked it out with each talent to be able to rest their bodies from more than two decades of bumps.

5. As was said, Bully owns that name himself and trademarked it before GFW could. It's a smart move!

More wrestling tomorrow.
