NJPW injuries, 2K19 skipping one console, assorting wrestling press, Interview with Pearce, NWA World Title match at ROH show, Starrcast broadcast set, WWE live events set, HOH touring Australia, new Impact Twitch content, new Impact star gets merch, Glory By Honor 2018 announced, SDL segments set, Stephanie and WWE TV profiled, Flair surgery, WWE live event notes including NXT debut, ROH partners with new wrestling series, Brock prepares for UFC return, Paige biopic debut set, WWE PPV changed, Raw dark match, and Questions on WWE getting quality writers, wrestling halls of fame, WWE not turning top names heel, Mr. America, and 205 Live Takeover events

Hiromu Takahashi was hospitalized with a neck injury after NJPW's G1 Special. I hope he's able to return to the ring sooner rather than later. He's great.

- Jim Ross also needed to see a doctor after the event, due to an unplanned spot involving the announcing table. I hope he fully recovers and isn't subjected to something like that again.

WWE 2K19 will not be available on Nintendo Switch. Hopefully future WWE games will make their way to Nintendo platforms.

Dolph Ziggler is on Lilian Garcia's latest podcast.

Adam Pearce answered questions for the George Tragos/Lou Thesz Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame:
- I think that's the first time I've heard someone in the business say exposure is the most important factor. He has a really good point. A decent wrestler with a lot of exposure will be more successful than a great worker who can't get in front of the right eyes. It took Bobby Roode two decades to get to Madison Square Garden. It took Liv Morgan three years.

- One of the biggest problems I see with WWE in 2018 is it still looks pretty similar to previous eras. Wrestling used to be pretty tightly linked with pop culture, but now it seems at least ten years behind the times.

- Producers are probably in a pretty tough spot, being stuck between Management on one side and the workers on the other. I imagine those two sides have very different visions.

Nick Aldis vs. Flip Gordon for the NWA World Championship is official for ROH's July 20 event. Cody will challenge for the championship at All In. How wild is it that ROH has booked the Impact and NWA World Champions for matches in such a short timeframe?

Starrcast will broadcast live on FITE TV. All In has yet to announce a broadcast partner.

Smackdown Live has a live event set for September 1 in Ohio, while Raw will hold a live event in Texas on September 14.

Titus O'Neil and Natalya appeared at Nestle's headquarters as part of a campaign there.

House of Hardcore is touring Australia this week with Bully Ray, the Spirit Squad (Kenny and Mikey) Nick Aldis, Tommy Dreamer, Joey Mercury, Angelina Love, Super Crazy, and more in action. Their July 12 event was canceled, but they're running four shows across five days otherwise. Not bad at all.

Impact Wrestling's Twitch channel now features a show from Josh Mathews and Sonjay Dutt called Analyze This as well as Joe Hendry's Prestigious Tuesdays, a video game themed show. That's all the rage now obviously.

Killer Kross already has a T-shirt in Impact Wrestling. I look forward to seeing how he'll do there.

Chris Harris spoke with Scott D'Amore as the two looked back at Turning Point 2004 on Total Nonstop Recall.

ROH Glory By Honor will be October 13 in Maryland at the site of Best in the World. It will be interesting to see how well they draw for that Honorclub event.

AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura in a non-title match is set for Smackdown Live. Maybe Shinsuke can finally beat him now that it's not for the WWE Championship??

Stephanie McMahon is profiled in Adweek. We're going to be seeing a lot more of her in the years to come.

Ric Flair successfully underwent intestinal surgery, believed to be further sign of his recovery from last year's health issues.

Ronda Rousey teamed with Bayley, Nia Jax, Natalya, and Ember Moon in a victory over Alexa Bliss, Mickie James, Alicia Fox, Liv Morgan, and Sarah Logan at Raw's July 8 live event. Her suspension is only for Raw TV.

WWE's TV deal was profiled:
- WWE is definitely more of a TV-centric business than UFC is, and that made a big difference here.

- WWE's pretty slick with unofficial negotiations.

- Pretty crazy to see Turner trying to get WWE after the WCW days, but those are long ago now.

- Notice the push of WWE's strong audience and value.

ROH is partnering with a wrestling series that will crown a challenger for the Television Championship. James Storm, Jeff Cobb, Joey Janela, and Shane Strickland are all attached to the project. That's a pretty cool idea. I hope it finds an audience.

Brock Lesnar has re-entered the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency testing pool. He will be able to compete in UFC again on January 8, 2019. So, that rules out him competing at the Madison Square Garden event in November. That's a pretty big wait for a pay off to his surprise appearance, but could be a big start to next year's UFC calendar. Brock missing WrestleMania season could really affect WWE's bottom line.

Team Hell No will be on MizTV to start tonight's Smackdown Live. That should be fun.

WWE's Paige biopic will debut on March 1, 2019 in Great Britain. I wonder if Rock will appear on WWE TV to promote it, and if so, what else he'll be involved in.

Nikki Cross worked Smackdown Live's July 9 event, teaming with Becky Lynch to defeat The IIconics. I'm surprised she's working as a face and didn't interact with SAnitY. We'll see how that works out for her if it continues on TV.

- Shinsuke Nakamura returned to action at that show, losing to AJ Styles in a no disqualification main event. So, he's right back on the road now.

WWE TLC seems to be up in the air, as WWE has announced that date as a "Supershow" featuring Raw and Smackdown Live talent including Ronda Rousey. It's possible the show ends up becoming a different pay-per-view rather than using the TLC theme. It's interesting to see them change plans, though.

After Raw, Kevin Owens was "cleared to compete" by Kurt Angle, setting up a six-man tag where Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman, and Seth Rollins defeated Owens, Drew McIntyre, and Dolph Ziggler.

For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. The actual writers are only going to matter so much if the ideas are still filtered into the same formula the shows have done for 20 years. And I doubt many top-notch writers would want to go through the schedule and hectic work environment of WWE. Things change week by week based on what worked the previous week. So, something planned to get ten minutes a week might end up getting five minutes the next week, etc. I don't see it working out for most people.

2. It's definitely set up well, given the standards for voting and the like. As far as wrestling halls go, it's credible and solid.

3. I think it's more of a case of wrestlers moving a lot more merchandise now and WWE not wanting to jeopardize that. And, as was said, Vince's stubbornness. He knows he can pretty much do what he wants to do without another company overtaking him.

4. It was a play on the decades old trope of someone "being fired" and coming back under a mask. I don't think Hogan was happy with the pay he was getting as that character, so he left.

5. I doubt there's enough demand for it. They need to build things up for the weekly show before they can talk about specials or live events.

More wrestling tomorrow.
