Read on for my thoughts on last night's Superstars and Impact Wrestling.
Superstars:
Fine opening tag match. Both teams are pretty much treading water, though. The match doesn't really mean that much because neither team is in ht upper echelon of the division. We're used to both teams being fodder for teams who are higher up on the totem pole.
I liked Kofi vs. McGillicutty. I'd love to see both men get whatever it is that's needed for them to get to the next level.
Impact Wrestling:
At first I thought the opening segment was kind of silly, but it was funny to play up the Scotland/England thing. Magnus has been a non-entity for a while so it was kind of odd to have him take out Daniels and Kazarian.
Nice match for Magnus. He's got potential. That was probably about the best they could do booking-wise, since they probably shouldn't have Devon lose clean if he's going to be a major player in Aces and Eights.
How weird is it that three all-time greats in Hogan, Sting, and Bully Ray are in this kind of angle? There's got to be a better use for them. At least the wedding angle got some good heat on Aces and Eights.
Kind of a silly segment with the Robbies and Park.
Not a bad match between Robbie and Park, just nothing to really write home about. I wonder how much shelf life either gimmick has.
I liked the segment with Aries, Roode, Chavo, and Hernandez other than the insinuation that it would be easy to take the tag team titles. It should be seen as an accomplishment to win those.
Not a bad match between Aries and Chavo. I think maybe they should have done the interference before the frog splash so it looks like a strong move that takes a while to recover from.
Oh joy, Hogan's here.
Not a bad segment with Angle's crew. I hope he's passing on wisdom to Joe, Brisco, and Garett.
I liked the Hogan/Sting segment ok. As far as veterans go, Bully's pretty solid, so I don't mind him getting the rub.
I think it's great that TNA's going on the road IF it makes financial sense to do so. I don't know how well they'll draw on the road every week. Maybe they should have started with one show on the road a month or something...
Fine enough Velvet promo.
Not a bad mixed tag. It'll be interesting to see what they do with Tara vs. Velvet.
Not much of an update on Jeff. It's a real shame that he couldn't make it to the UK. What does it say about a company when its champion is legally barred from entering a country?
I liked Anderson's promo.
Damned solid match between Angle and Anderson. Wow. I'm not really crazy about Anderson tapping out if he's going to be an important player, but he did put up a good fight.
Kind of a weird swerve to end the show. I'm not really sure why they went that direction. Hopefully they don't just become fodder for the likes of Angle and Joe. Imagine how big of a win it would be if Garett and Brisco beat two former TNA Champions?
More wrestling coming up.
