Main Event:
I like that they did something to set up a match between Sheamus and Cody instead of just throwing it out there. And it's good that Kaitlyn's getting TV time. Maybe the Divas will become more visible now.
Sheamus vs. Cody was very solid. I hope Management took note. Cody deserves better than he got on Monday.
I like Justin Gabriel and it's kind of a shame that he was a victim here, but losing to such a dominant monster isn't really a huge setback. I guess SOMEONE had to be the sacrificial lamb.
Kind of a weird segment between Kaitlyn and Cody, but at least both of them are doing something. A face turn for Cody would be interesting. Talented guy.
Everything else from yesterday is after the break.
Rey Mysterio has been pulled from all advertised dates through WrestleMania. I really hope he's ok. He was backstage at this week's TV tapings.
Team 3D is offering free training for anyone who signs up in March. That's huge.
Confirmed for this week's Gut Check is Lei'd Tapa, who is the niece of The Barbarian. I wish her luck.
Vince McMahon was said to have really blown a gasket when C.M. Punk and John Cena did the piledriver spot as it wasn't cleared ahead of time and is a move that's somewhat taboo to use. I doubt either man will face serious consequences.
C.M. Punk has some sort of bug going on. You'd never know with him working the Middle East tour and Raw. He's a machine. A lot of respect to him for his tenacity.
WWE could be bringing in some more managers. Jim ("Father" James) Mitchell (a.k.a. the Sinister Minister) is a name that's been thrown about. He'd be a very good choice. I can see him working with Conor O'Brian's dark gimmick. Please?
The Undertaker could be back as soon as next week's Raw. C.M. Punk is pretty much a lock as his opponent. I hope he has his working boots on. There is some concern about Punk losing some high-profile matches lately, but I think he's gone down swinging each time so he should be ok.
Kamala and Ivan Koloff have been discussed for the WWE Hall of Fame. Both would make sense.
The Rock missed Raw because he was filming in Panama. His schedule's got to be insane.
The Miz was interviewed about his new movie, wrestling, and more.
Unsurprisingly, there was a lot of talk at the Smackdown taping about Punk vs. Cena from Raw. I hope they motivated the rest of the roster to one day reach that threshold.
Chris Jericho talked to MLW.com about the transition in WWE from Vince McMahon to Triple H at the helm. I'm excited to see what things will look like as HHH gains more control.
The Rock revealed his WWE game plan to IGN. It's hard to argue with his logic.
For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
1. It might be wiser to save him for the post-Mania shake-up at any rate. He is a talented star and I do wish they had more for him, but the shows are kind of crowded right now.
2. I definitely think they'll go as big as they can for BFG with it being their flagship show. Whether they'll go with Styles vs. Hardy is anyone's guess. It would make more sense for Styles to chase a heel. Imagine Daniels as TNA Champion and Styles coming back to take it from him. I don't see Daniels as a top guy, but that would be a hell of a story.
3. Yeah, I think it does kind of dilute things to include anyone other than those three. Bischoff deserves to go into the Hall for his own merit. But I don't see any of them going in soon for the reasons they mentioned.
4. I haven't seen anything to suggest that they'll go back to 2 hours, though obviously a lot of fans want it to. Maybe someday.
5. Henry vs. Show would be pretty amazing from a dominant giant vs. dominant giant perspective, though I'd object to it to some degree because it's two guys nearing the end of their careers facing each other rather than working with the younger crop of stars. Henry vs. Khali shouldn't even be considered.
More wrestling tomorrow, and Blue Echo podcasts hopefully coming up!
