Impact Wrestling Reax - 9/2/15

Read on for my thoughts on last night's Impact Wrestling.

Honestly, I'm not so sure there's reason to boo the Jarretts and GFW freshening things up in TNA. Taking out Bully was definitely heelish, but given how many fans are tuning out, it's safe to say people want something different than what they've been getting from the established regimes.

I liked that opening segment. TNA badly needed some new wrestlers, and this gives us some fresh matches.

- Lashley vs. Mordetzky:
I really wish we got to see these two at this level in WWE. They've both grown since their pushes there. One major setback if TNA goes under is whether we'll see these talents at a top level again.

I'm glad they didn't beat the tough GFW guy one match in, but it definitely looked like Mordetzky was done for. I'm not saying he should have beaten the former TNA Champion, but he should have looked like a threat.

What does it say about the commitment wrestlers have to TNA when they're not running out to take on the GFW invaders?

Fun segment to set up the tag team title match. It's good to have some crazy chaos sometimes.

- Wolves vs. Lee/Myers:
Impressive moves by the Wolves, but obviously it wasn't meant to be. They're definitely concerned with keeping the TNA side strong tonight.

Good promo from Roode. In a "perfect world," we'd see the best parts of TNA merge with GFW and something new could begin.

Nice stuff from EC3. EC3 vs. Jeff should be good.

I really liked that Roode promo, too. The "rah, rah, TNA!" stuff was a bit strong, but that's what you do in an interpromotional angle.

- Roode vs. Black:
Roode is truly one of the best acts in TNA. I hope he's still an important guy in the wrestling world in 2016 (ditto for Storm and Aries).

Pretty crazy stuff all around. This kind of feels like the Attitude Era (===b) as far as the whole show feeling like Crash TV. I think it's working, though.

Jarrett burying the other regimes was pretty good.

This is so "worked shoot" it hurts. I wonder how many viewers were familiar with all the behind-the-scenes stuff.

I enjoyed the GFW vs. TNA segment with Jarrett and Dixie, even if it feels a little early to tease the end of the angle.

I liked Kenny King's reboot. Glad he's sticking around for now.

It's going to be awkward seeing Bram these next few weeks given his legal dilemma. I wonder what the odds are of them "pulling a Hernandez" and replacing everything featuring him.

- King vs. Bram:
So much for King getting a fresh start! He's talented, but obviously they don't intend to really push him based on that performance. It seems like so many TNA stars have little-to-no momentum right now.

Matt vs. EC3 should be quite good.

The Knockouts segment was OK, although Angelina and Velvet were just feuding pretty recently. I don't know how much they can get out of this feud with Angelina not being able to wrestle for the time being (I doubt she took bumps at this taping). Honestly, they've rebooted the Beautiful People so much, it's not that special to see them together.

They'd be absolutely insane not to do something between TNA and GFW at Bound For Glory to settle the whole thing. What else could they do at their biggest show of the year? Will it just be a glorified live event?

- EC3 vs. Matt Hardy:
I didn't like Matt getting a virtual pinfall on the champ, but it's whatever.

More really crazy stuff. Very Russo-esque without actually having him there.

Not a bad ending, I guess. Fine match for what it was. It's pretty much connect-the-dots from here.

More wrestling coming up.
