NXT and ROH Reax - 9/23/15

Read on for my thoughts on last night's NXT and ROH.
NXT:
Wow Eva Marie still needs work. She sounds so wooden in her promos.

Carmella's OK in her promos. She at least tries to have personality.

- Eva vs. Carmella:
This is pretty clunky. They need to be working with more experienced wrestlers instead of each other.

What in God's name is going on here? Is there an angle of Eva convincing the refs to give her certain calls?

If this is a way to get heat on Eva, it's working. The fans legitimately hate her.

I hope we don't have to see those two face off again anytime soon. Someone's going to get hurt. They need to be in the Performance Center or working with people with more experience.

I wonder when we end up seeing Nia, since Asuka is now on the scene.

- Bull vs. Breeze:
I like the psychology here.

I really hope we don't have two countouts in a row.

This rest hold spot's going long.

HE'S BULLIN' UP, MAGGLE!!

That match was OK. Both men still need work, although Tyler's usually good against more experienced players.

Asuka destroying Eva Marie would be fun to watch.

The NXT names getting new audiences to work in front of on tour is always a good thing.

But she's not Kana anymore?

Ahh, there we go. It's weird seeing her in business attire given what she wrestles in.

It's weird to see WWE be like "your name's Kana, but now we'll call you Asuka."

I'll give her a break with her accent given how long she's worked in Japan.

I generally enjoy Dana and Emma.

She's really leaving? What the hell?

Well, that was weird. Hopefully we'll see really good stuff from Asuka in the ring.

Apollo vs. Breeze should be a lot of fun. Both guys have potential.

I hope they don't rush Balor vs. Joe. That should be HYPE.

Not a compelling promo from the Hype Bros. Mojo's still kind of vanilla.

I like the future for Jordan and Gable. The towel's pretty fun, too.

- Blake/Murphy vs. Vaudevillains:
A six-person tag at Takeover would be fun.

Without Alexa, there's little reason to watch Blake & Murphy.

The former tag champs are just so bland. They're the opposite end of the continuum of spot monkeys. They have basics and psychology, but very little flavor.

I really love Gotch's offense.

God we were almost in for the return of the create-a-wrestlers as champs.

Enzo is fucking GOLD. Nice promos from both men.

Balor and Joe brought the fire, too.

ROH:
- Elgin vs. Silas:
I temporarily forgot this was taped before the PPV. This is kind of like Main Event or Superstars where nothing important happens.

Most ROH wrestlers are "bland athlete guy who does innovative moves." It's very tiring.

I had hope for Silas being different from the pack (and therefore very valuable), but then he does an Arabian Press.

The match itself was mostly fine. There's just no real reason to care.

I was very disappointed with Cole being back with the Kingdom. He's now just another ROH guy.

- Caprice vs. ACH:
So-so stuff so far. The matches here just lack discipline and storytelling. They usually don't build or have tension; it's just move after move.

Bleh. Caprice is only interesting with the wrench.

Caprice could be interesting if they had an actual story with him. If he won a match with the wrench every few weeks, I might care. Otherwise he's just another dude.

The ROH-NJPW relationship expanding is great for fans of that style.

- Okada/RPG Vice vs. Soto/Briscoes:
Romero shows some potential as a heel.

It's a shame these guys are such amazing athletes, since that's all they are without good stories and angles.

Jesus just go to the ending already. You've done 1,000 big moves.

Not a bad show, just an uneventful one from a story standpoint.

More wrestling coming up.
