5/29 Smackdown dark match, Questions on positioning and announcing, interview with Austin, Dixie conference call, 5/28 Raw rating, Orton suspended, and a head trainer change at FCW

The dark match for the 5/29 Smackdown taping saw Dean Ambrose defeat Luke Hawx.

For my take on the 5/30 PWInsider.com questions:
1. Another thing to consider is that John Cena is their franchise guy, and they could have wanted to showcase him in the last segment. Maybe more Cena fans bought the show than Punk fans?

2. My answer was "yes" before I finished reading the first sentence. Color commentary on WWE's main shows is consistently bad. Even with declining ratings and buyrates, they stick with the bad commentary.

3. I agree with their take. Rock and Lesnar are bigger than the titles due to their mainstream exposure. Laurinaitis isn't.

I go into everything else from 5/30 after the break!
4. It's not just where you put certain people on the card. It's also how you treat them. Cena could be in segment 3 and Punk could main event but if most of the show is spent talking about what Cena did and not what's going on in the ring, fans are going to think he's more important.

5. Ding ding ding. Also, wrestlers had more defined characters and stood out more.

Here's part of a Stone Cold Steve Austin interview. He has the right philosophy about being a heel.

Here are highlights from a Dixie Carter conference call. I agree about the number of PPVs needing to be lower. The business has changed in that regard. I wish WWE also had a "story bible".

The 5/28 Raw did a 2.7 rating for Memorial Day. Tough times for wrestling ratings. That's now what you want going into moving to 3 hours.

Randy Orton was suspended for 60 days after failing a Wellness test. That's a shame, since it seemed like that part of his life was behind him.

Dr. Tom Prichard was replaced by Bill DeMott as the head trainer at FCW, which is very interesting given the kinds of complaints they used to get about him when he headed up DSW.

More news tomorrow!
