Superstars and Impact Wrestling Reax - 5/24/12

Read on for my segment-by-segment thoughts on the 5/24 Superstars and Impact Wrestling.

Superstars:
Cesaro really brings something different to the table at a time where it seems like a lot of guys don't. His finishing moves were very impressive. Tyson Kidd's a guy who should be utilized more and given a chance to shine.

JTG and McGillicutty impressed in the tag match. Kofi and Truth were there usual good selves. It combined to make a fine match. There might be a future in JTG/McGillicutty.

Slater and Ryder did what they do. Nothing to write home about. The match wasn't bad, but it didn't reinvent the wheel or make either look like break-out guys.

Impact Wrestling:
Pretty good opening to Open Fight Night. It's a shame that Ray was the one cut, but that reasoning actually made sense.

Good promo by Kim as the dominant Knockout in the company.

I didn't miss Eric Young's act a bit. The tag match was fine, but Young is unbearable.

I'm glad they acknowledged that Gunner put RVD on the shelf. That should have been a no-brainer.

Nothing's changed in TNA I see. The old guard is still being pushed ahead of the new guard. They could have done more with RVD vs. Gunner.

good fired-up promo from Devon. I like Open Fight Night and the overall continuity.

Smart to pair Devon with the inexperienced Bischoff. It's saying something when the crowd is chanting for the "future of the company" (as a babyface) to be put through a table.

Another good backstage segment involving Hogan and the challengers. Given that Angle was hurt training, he might should have been the one eliminated (if not eliminated first).

VERY good segment with Bully Ray and Aby... umm Joseph Park. They're doing a good job setting up for Abyss to be the conquering hero defending his family.

I've at least heard of Joey Ryan. Hopefully he's better than Silva.

Joey Ryan wasn't bad at all. I wouldn't mind seeing him again.

I'd much rather have seen Angle vs. Roode if Angle was 100%.

Roode vs. Styles was solid! Both men brought something out of each other in that one.

Everyone brought it in the main event segment. They made me anticipate what happens yet. When they can do that, they're doing their jobs.

The 5/25 Smackdown and more will be up tonight. Next up, the 5/24 news post.
