Saturday Morning Slam:
I liked the opening video package.
Good promo from the tag champs. It's kind of weird to see a formerly dark character like Kane on SMS.
It was expected that Kane would beat someone as low on the card as Mahal. There was nothing "wrong" with the in-ring action, though.
That was better than I was expecting from Slater. Good match and the story made sense.
I liked the Orton/Sandow segment. Sandow's an effective talker and Orton can easily get by with just showing up and not saying much.
As for news, here's a query we received:
1. I don't see Daffney becoming a part of WWE at her age, since WWE likes the younger faces. That's a real shame given how talented and unique she is.
Update: Daffney's retired due to injuries, so no chance of it happening. Sorry.
Jerry Lynn, Petey Williams, Amazing Red, Matt Bentley, and Jimmy Rave will be a part of a special X-Division taping for TNA. Maybe some of those younger guys return to the fold?
NXT's Leo Kruger worked a Raw live event, teaming with Jack Swagger in a loss to Brodus Clay and Zack Ryder. Kruger is a former 2-time FCW Champion. He's worked live events and dark matches before, so this isn't a huge surprise but as always it could be a sign he's about to be called up.
Kevin Nash made some tweets about his status for the 20th anniversary of Raw, TNA, and the nWo.
The most recent Impact got 1.62 million viewers, the show's highest mark since August. People still get that excited for Sting? Unreal. I hope those fans liked the other performers on the show, too, and choose to stick around.
For my take on yesterday's PWInsider.com questions:
Nothing to add to 1. They answered it pretty thoroughly.
2. There are still two house show loops, for what that's worth. I also wish the brand extension was still around and that they built up more stars. They have some talented people who I think could make money for the company if presented well.
Nothing to add to 3, 4, or 5. They got everything covered! It would be cool to go to an actual WWE Hall of Fame some day.
More wrestling tomorrow.
