R-Truth talks "firing", Miz interview, Cena addresses criticism, Batista update, Flair on SportsCenter, WWE stars address Miz/Truth "releases", Raw rating, FCW appearances, and Ziggler injured (?)

First up, some queries sent in:
1. There have been no updates on Shane McMahon as they relate to WWE or wrestling in general for that matter. He isn't expected to return any time soon, if at all.

2. Melina is still under her 90-day no-compete clause following her WWE release. I haven't seen anything about her possibly returning to the company. It's possible, but I can only think of a few cases where they've signed someone back within that time period, and both of them were due to big fan demand following controversial firings (Matt Hardy and Daniel Bryan). There hasn't been nearly as much of an outcry over her release, and I don't suspect there will be.

UK fitness model Carly Thornton will be part of WWE try-outs this November, hoping to be come a WWE Diva. Hey, it could work out.

WWE.com has announced the storyline firings of The Miz and R-Truth. Don't worry; they're still under contract and doing some of the best work of their careers.

After the break, I go into the rest of the day's news and questions. First up, a look at a legitimate Raw injury.
Jerry Lawler got extreme pain in his lower back from the spot to the announce table when it didn't break as expected. He was checked out for damage to his kidneys and lower back. Fingers crossed that the all-time great comes out ok.Update: He's tentatively scheduled to miss Raw. Glad they're taking precautions. It'd make sense for himt o miss anyway after that attack. Still, I wish it was voluntary.

Kevin Nash was not at the Raw taping. Not really sure why.

Edge is no longer being advertised for the 9/20 Smackdown taping. So many schedule changes with WWE lately. It's really out of hand.

On to my take on PWInsider.com's questions:
1. Wait, say what now? I think the question here is what would happen if Spike dropped TNA.  Right now, Impact Wrestling's one of their top shows if not the #1 period, so I don't see why they would, but if they did, I think another channel could possibly pick them up. Maybe. And they'd still be airing internationally and all that kind of stuff, so it wouldn't be the end of them. If the company did go under, I think a number of stars would end up in either WWE or ROH, but a lot of the others would disperse elsewhere. It's tough to say really. ROH definitely couldn't afford that many new wrestlers and WWE wouldn't be interested in many of them.

2. As far as I know, you can't literally patent a move. If so, you'd think a lot of people would have already gone out and done so. So, it's just an expression linking that move to Angle. Technically, yes, anyone can use anyone else's moveset legally.

I concur with them on 3. I don't really see a correlation. Those two are much bigger deals than that movie.

Nothing to add to 4. I actually was unaware of that.

There's also not really anything to add to 5. I don't blame them for banning the moves either. Those bumps add up!

The dark match for the 9/19 Raw taping was Percy Watson and Titus O'Neil defeating Curt Hawkins and Tyler Reks. To my knowledge, neither of the other NXT competitors have worked dark matches or Superstars, so that could be a sign who management prefers. Remember that Kaitlyn worked Smackdown before winning NXT and Johnny Curtis worked dark matches before his win as well, so there COULD be a pattern here.

TNA is looking to screen Bound For Glory in movie theaters. Hey, if that makes the money, then more power to them.

A lot of free tickets have been and will continue to be given for the 9/21 Impact Wrestling taping in Knoxville, TN. I was under the assumption that they were going to some of their top markets, but maybe that isn't the case or they miscalculated. A number of talents have been on media interviews to promote it. They need to get the faces and voices of Hogan, Sting, Hardy, etc. out there to draw in the first-time fan. Given what a major show they're building towards, low attendance is got to be even more disappointing than usual.

Mick Foley teased an appearance at WWE Hell in A Cell, but later admitted it was an accident on his part. Twitter's apparently pretty difficult for wrestlers sometimes.

WWE has canceled a Smackdown house show in Portugal for 11/13. Those haven't been doing as well as they could be. After all the times of hot talents being drafted or otherwise featured on Raw, the show gets a "B show" label a lot.

Hugh Jackman was said to be quite the hit backstage, legitimately enjoying his time there. He interacted a lot and took a lot of photos. Fantastic to hear him blending in so well and not treating it as just a promotional venue to give half effort to.

WWE is going ahead with the feud between the Sin Caras due to Rey Mysterio's injury. WWE wants to do a big promotion for WrestleMania 28 involving lucha masks. I'm guessing they might want Sin Cara, Hunico, and Mysterio then, or just the former two if he's injured? No word on when/if Hunico will get a non-Sin Cara gimmick at some stage.

In a story I really hate getting into every day, Matt Hardy was arrested on 9/14 after a search warrant at his house turned up paraphernalia, 20 vials of anabolic steroids, and ecstasy. Here's a summary of all of his recent/current issues.

Update: Here's a local news story on the arrest, including a mugshot.

Update: And another one.

Update: TMZ has even more on the story, covering what led up to the arrest. I'll be glad when this one's over. It's damaging wrestling's image.

Hulk Hogan signed an endorsement deal for nutrition products.

WWE understandably got buzz for the Hugh Jackman angle, from TMZ, Celebbuzz, Chron.com, and Cleveland's ABC affiliate. That appearance was a win-win.

TNA has announced tours of South America and Japan.

Jay Lethal promoted a special Macho King action figure. Dig it!

R-Truth Tweeted about the firing angle. Awesome selling. Nothing from Miz yet, thugh I suspect his Tweets will be good, too.

The Miz was interviewed on a number of WWE topics. It's a good listen.

John Cena responded to the many people complaining about him winning at Night of Champions. There are definitely quite a few more fans in the pro-Cena camp, but the vocal minority gets a lot more press. I think good can come of this title reign, but it's no guarantee.

Batista made a number of wrestling-related comments on Twitter. Not much to say here.

Ric Flair opened SportsCenter from the Red Sox stadium.

A number of WWE stars responded to The Miz and R-Truth being "fired" by Triple H. I put quotation marks to separate these stories from the legitimate releases and the like.

Raw did a 3.0 on 9/19. Please tell me that holds up and increases, as the show's been quite good these past however many weeks.

Howard Finkel will be at the 9/22 FCW tapings for a meet and greet/autograph session. Dolph Ziggler and Zack Ryder will appear on 9/30 in Orlando. I wonder how well internet faves Rollins, Ambrose, and Cesaro will do at those shows.

Finally, Dolph Ziggler has stated that he's been injured by Hugh Jackman's punch on Raw. He;ll need a mouthguard, but won't miss any ring-time. I think he's also got a case of tongue-in-cheek. If this is all storyline, I like the direction. He should play that up as a cheap shot from a non-contracted talent, etc..

That's all for Tuesday's news. More to come tomorrow. Thanks for reading!
