WWE Night of Champions thoughts

Tonight WWE's COO Triple H returns to the ring to face C.M. Punk in a No Disqualifications match with his job on the line. Will the man with more World Title reigns than anyone in the company put away the Straight Edge Superstar, or will the Triple H Era end with a Go 2 Sleep? Plus, Alberto Del Rio defends his WWE Championship against John Cena, Randy Orton faces Mark Henry for the World Heavyweight Championship, and the rest of WWE's titles are at stake. Read on for my thoughts on the show as it happens.

Putting Cole, Lawler, and Booker on the same team is begging for someone to hit the mute button.

Nice start to the show.

Impressive synchronization by Air Boom. They could really be on to something here.

Solid opener. All four men were "on" in this one.

Cody Rhodes continues to be someone to watch. He's really moving up the ladder lately. DiBiase's also got fire in him tonight.

Great ending. This is what dirty finishes are supposed to be like- making you want to see more instead of blowing the investment the match had.

Christian continues to be very entertaining in his current role. Fine segment, though a little odd.

Another case of me being relatively quiet because there's not much to complain about. It's like someone's lit a fire under the roster lately. All four of these guys are looking to break through to that upper echelon, and are becoming closer to doing so.

Nice, effective interview by Henry.

Ditto for the Vickie segment.

Another hit for this show. Both men had their working boots on, and Henry finally got the big one. Yes, he's 40 years old and probably won't be with the company 2 years from now, but he's putting on some top-notch work right now, so he's earned this run.

The promo was very good as well. Who would have thought he'd have such a breakout year after how he'd been booked in recent years?

I'm honestly getting pretty tired of some of this "insider" stuff.

Why did it take so long for us to get this Beth Phoenix again? Solid heel work.

A little underwhelmed by the ending, but I'm guessing it's just to set up a win for Beth next month.Good for what it was.

Fun opening to the WWE Title match.

Another case of two very strong workers giving it their all. I'm really enjoying this one.

Ok, even I'm ticked that Cena's got the title again. Things were stellar until that went down. Ugh. So close and yet so far away.

Loving the Punk shirt.

They're certainly starting this one off big.

This match is pretty much making up for Cena winning so far.

Jesus, this show's crazy.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around that ending. That was some TNA-level stuff, just with some younger better talent involved. I think I would have been ok with it if it was someone other than Nash, but with him it was kind of a head-scratcher. They can save it with strong booking to come, but that would mean Punk gets his revenge in a big future win and Nash exits stage left at the end of the feud.

So, all in all, despite a few questionable booking spots, this was a show worth-seeing. I'm mostly looking forward to where things go from here.

That's all for my Night of Champions coverage. I'll be back tomorrow for Raw, and a news post will be up shortly. Thanks for reading!
