Road Dogg/BG James interview, former X-Division Champion at No Surrender, Questions on a Cornette/Heyman team,Orton vs. Evolution, Hogan/Flair/Bischoff, stealing moves, and "popping", Rosa Mendes goes after Divas, Punk promotes Raw, UK TNA appearances, Piper surgery, McCool planning return?, Foley talks WWE and TNA, who would succeed HHH as COO?, Hogan talks TNA, Edge talks appearance, Gunner attacks "dirtsheets", Smackdown rating, and a champion not booked for Impact Wrestling tapings

The former Road Dogg, known in TNA as BG James, was interviewed about a number of past subject.  He had one of my favorite entrances of all time. Nice listen/read. The '90s was truly a magical era.

Homicide was visiting backstage at No Surrender. He really stood out as a competitor in the ring and on the mic; it's a shame he's not in TNA any longer.

PWInsider.com has some new questions up:
1. If their history is any indication, not well at all. The two personalities simply don't mesh and there was some bad blood there back "in the day". The booking philosophies are pretty different, too. One or both would end up leaving.

2. I suppose it was to hammer home that he was still a heel before that attack. He didn't embrace the fans as much as become a sympathetic figure after the beating in that face turn. That angle was kind of a head-scratcher, though. There's a reason they call a quick World Title reign ending in a crushing beatdown and de-push being "Ortoned". The reason Evolution turned on him was out of jealousy on HHH's part since his underling won the title.

3. I think they might have skipped Flair in their answer. It was recently reported that Hogan and Bischoff;s contracts might be up in a few months, so it looks like some signals have been crossed there. It's certainly not a lock that any of the three of them will re-sign. Hogan's had a number of clashes behind the scenes with Vince Russo, and as has been noted, hasn't exactly been the promoting face of the company he was when he first signed. So, he could very well leave for greener pastures. Flair's had heat with management as well, after the incident over pay in Europe a while back and not appearing in front of the crowd in New York. If someone else will pay him to wrestle, he'll probably jump as well. Bischoff's a little harder to call. He mainly came on board with Hogan, so if he leaves, Bischoff might go, too. Of course, things could change over the next couple of months, but as things stand now, I wouldn't put money on them being around in 6 months.

4. It's kind of a case-by-case thing in my book. Sometimes a certain move is so associated with a wrestler that it's hard to separate the two. The Stunner, Tombstones, Pedigrees, that kind of thing. There's a time frame involved in my book before someone can "take" a move. Angle's been gone from WWE for so long that it's probably ok for Orton to use his Slam. If Mason Ryan starts doing the Batista Bomb, though, it's going to get some criticism.

5. I wish I could find the clip of Al Snow explaining the difference between a cheer and a pop in wrestling terminology. I can't explain it as well (or as colorfully) as he did, but here's an explanation in my own words: For one thing, the term pop is thrown around way too much. Think of it like a volcano. It might rumble every so often, and get quite loud in doing so, but it only truly erupts under the right conditions. A pop is the eruption. You have to really build to get to a true pop. There are also what Snow called "fireworks" reactions which are the "oohs" and "ahhs" for big spots. These are NOT pops and should not be construed as such. I recommend checking out Snow's interviews on what works (and doesn't) in wrestling; he knows his stuff.

Smackdown Diva Rosa Mendes made a number of less-than-polite comments about some up-and-coming female members of the roster, AJ in particular. If she wanted attention, she got it. I'm assuming (and hoping) this is storyline-based. Great heel promo if so. It did take me a while to place some of the references though. I assume Aksana's the one who looks 40 and Kaitlyn "needs to be on Jenny Craig" (though she's in better shape than she was on NXT). Maybe this becomes part of a rookies vs. veterans feud?

C.M. Punk gave an interview to promote the Raw taping in Ottawa. Nice read. I think we'll be seeing more of the Divas of Doom as the angle progresses. His talk with WWE Magazine was also very intriguing.

A number of TNA stars will be in Scotland on 9/28, and Mickie James will be in White City in London on 9/29.

"Rowdy" Roddy Piper underwent surgery on his broken neck, which had been troubling him for some time. He's still a fighter; he wrestled through it. TMZ.com picked up the story.

Some are taking a tweet by Michelle McCool as a possible indication of a return to WWE. I'm less sureI'd like to see it, though.

Mick Foley discussed his time in TNA and possible future time in WWE with The Sun. I'd like to see him as a guest host and/or ambassador for WWE. A match putting over, say, Cody Rhodes, Wade Barrett, or another guy needing that boost into the top tier would be nice as well. Maybe he could be the Smackdown GM and give people more of a reason to watch that show. As for TNA, it's hard to blame him for being frustrated there. There are others who could be considered wastes of resources who are still on the roster.

WWE.com speculated on who would replace Triple H should he lose at Night of Champions. That's definitely a big story in wrestling right now. I'm curious on that one, and who's to say it's anyone on that list?

Hulk Hogan discussed a number of TNA topics, including getting back in the ring and legal troubles for the roster. TNA pretty much has to put him in the ring based on current storylines. There could really be a flop upcoming for them there. As for the legal issues, there needs to be more liability. If they have to get Kurt a taxi or something, so be it. He and Jeff should pretty much be on their last straws for the company. If they're just going to continue bringing bad press, it's coming time to cut them loose. Name value or no name value, this is getting ridiculous.

Edge talked about the twilight of his career in relation to his next WWE appearance. As much benefit as there is to using him, at some point it's going to be time to let him go. I don't know how much longer he has under his contract, but if he doesn't want to be there much longer, maybe they should work something out in that regard.

TNA's Gunner had some less than flattering things to say about wrestling news sites and other internet fans. Presumably this isn't part of a storyline. Twitter just isn't working out for some people it looks like. I kind of see his point about "fans" but I don't really see what good it does bashing people.

Smackdown did a 1.93 rating on Friday. Pretty good. Hopefully that number stays in that area and/or goes up in the weeks to come.

Eric Young won't be at this week's Impact Wrestling tapings. Presumably they're out of sketches for him. Maybe they're thinking of changing his character or something? Three weeks is a long time without him.

That's all for Monday's news. More to come tomorrow. Thanks for reading!
